Counter-Strike Amateur Series *Update*
Following the announcement last week of the planned Counter-Strike ESL Pro Series we have today opened the Counter-Strike ESL Amateur Series, the road to the ESL Pro Series.
Important update: Details about qualification have been update. Now all teams must qualify through the Amateur Series to get into the ESL Pro Series. There are no direct invites. Also teams must play 8 matches (not including default wins) to be eligible for qualification!

Counter-Strike 1.6 in the Pro Series?

It is currently planned to have Counter-Strike 1.6 in the Pro Series, but this depends on YOU! To get into the Pro Series a game must have a large and active community on the ESL. So to get Counter-Strike 1.6 into the Pro Series we need your help by getting as many teams as possible into the Amateur Series, and playing as many matches as possible!

The ESL Pro Series

The ESL Pro Series is the Premier League of gaming featuring the best players and teams from the United Kingdom & Ireland.

ESL Amateur Series

The ESL Amateur Series is directly below the ESL Pro Series and is the qualification for it. Like a ladder, any team can join the Amateur Series at any time, but also like a League, every team must be play at least one match a week that is automatically generated for them.

The compulsory match time is Tuesday 8pm

In addition to the compulsory 1 match a week, regular challenging is enabled

To be eligible for ESL Pro Series qualification teams must be in the Amateur Series by midnight 4th January 2009, remain until the snapshot, and play at least 8 matches (not including default wins).

The snapshot will be taken at the end of the January 2010.

The top 6 teams will qualify directly for the Pro Series.

The next top 16 teams will play in a series of cups to determine the next 6 teams to qualify for the Pro Series.

How to sign up

- All players in your team must register on the ESL.

Important! If you have ever registered before and you have forgotten your details, do not make a new account, write a support ticket.

- All players in your team must register their SteamID (HL/CS) gameaccount.

- The team captain should create the team by going to My Teams (at the top) and Register new team.

- After creating the team, the captain should set a password (My Teams -> Manage team -> Edit team, then give the link to the team to all players who can join it with the 'join team' link on the team page.

- Once all players have done the above and are in the team, the captain can sign the team up
