ESL Wire Anti-Cheat: Intermediate Conclusion
In the beginning of 2010, ESL's Director of Gaming Communities, David 'Affentod' Hiltscher posted a daring statement in the comments of a renown German scene website. He promised to eliminate public hacks and private hacks in the biggest games in a year. Almost one year is over now - time for a conclusion!
This news is about ESL Wire Anti-Cheat's figures and facts for the past 12 months. We are not going to retell the whole story of Aequitas 2 and ESL Wire Anti-Cheat with its ups and downs again.
ESL Wire Anti-Cheat StatisticsSince ESL Wire Anti-Cheat's release, 3 1/2 months ago, 344,269 matches and 99,430 gathers have been played with Wire Anti-Cheat. This activity produced 2,670,738 Wire Anti-Cheat sessions. 1,947 of these sessions were automatically marked as sessions in which somebody cheated. 6,034 sessions were marked as highly suspicious, prompting a manual check.
Altogether, 828 ESL users have been banned within three and a half months (as of: 09.01.2011). This means that there was an average of more than seven cheaters detected per day. They were banned from the ESL within before playing a third match. There were 2,754 sessions which marked a possible fake account, 1,685 fakeaccounts were deleted after investigation.
ESL Wire Anti-Cheat ReviewWe made a lot of progress and we're one big step closer to being a cheat-free league. At the moment there are more than 1000 public hacks in our data base as well as private hacks such as x22, Organner, xmodus, Royalhack and Iniuria, which are always detected. Of course ESL Wire Anti-Cheat is not a magic weapon against cheating, it will require constant work to continue being successful.
ESL Wire Anti-Cheat OutlookWe want to continue on this road, we want to fight cheat programmers and keep this league clean. But fighting against cheats is not the only thing we do every day. Making the needs and wishes of the community come true is also of great importance. That is why we are running polls and following the latest poll about Wire we developed the new Linesman: now, as you wished, config data is uploaded in the background automatically without user interaction.
Please participate in the next poll to determine where you would like us to continue developing and improving our software!
