As a regular ESL user you will have noticed: The ESL website has had massive problems in the evening recently. After some very stable months we have begun to have problems with the availability of the ESL website. The coders are working hard to solve the problems. Like last year there will compensation for the problems to all Premium users in the form of free PDs in February.

The final event of the first ESL Major Series in CS 1.6 Female in Cologne, Germany, is over. In the "Sport- und Olympiamuseum", next to the Rhein, the teams of n!faculty, mousesports from Germany, McPoker.emuLate from France and the famous Les Seules from Scandinavia competed for the first title of Europe's best female Counter-Strike 1.6 team. It is always difficult to say goodbye to a close friend, and it is with a sad heart that we must do so today to one of the most prolific teams to ever grace the WC3L, 4Kings. As their Warcraft III division has now officially closed, the players and managers have opted to join the ranks of PGS, and as such PGS will take 4K's spot this season.

On 26th and 27th January the ESL Pro Series Ukraine Season I finals will be held in the gaming club “Donbass Cyber Sport Arena” in Donetsk city. The best players and teams of Ukraine will fight in Counterstrike 1.6, Warcraft 3 and FIFA 2008 for the biggest prize purse in Ukrainian eSports history - 100.000 UAH. Do not miss it!

Cheating is a topic in online gaming that never gets old. But instead of only talking about it, some people feel the need to betray other players by cheating. This time we have a kind of première: For the first time, ESL Aequitas found a great number of CS:Source players who have been caught and banned for two years.

We are extremely happy to announce a second season of the ESL Major Series powered by ASUS. Like the first season, the ESL Major Series will feature a wide selection of games across the FPS, RTS and Sports genres. We also have great prizes to win in a raffle!

ESL has a new partner in Benelux! With Wsquared Media we proudly present a new strong partner in Benelux. With their support the ESL section will be build up and an ESL Pro Series is on it's way. With Wsquared Media, eSports in Benelux will rise to a new level.

Now that the qualification-period is over we are approaching the start of the 13th WC3L regular season. The first playday will start on January 24th. Until then you can expect in-depth previews for all the twelve teams, a revamping of our rulebook and a new episode of our King of the Hill-competition.

The New Year is already some days old and we are looking forward to a new, exciting one. This is also the time to look back and remember last year what happened in and around the ESL. We collected some statistics and facts about the league to give you the idea of what happened in 2007!

Today the first matches of the Asian ESL PGL 2 Qualifier started. Thrilling matches between 32 Asian players. Only six of them will reach the ESL PGL 2 main round. We present replays from all games. Furthermore you can watch all games live on PP Live.

Worldwide among all eSports leagues the Electronic Sports League is the most generous distributor of prize money to the best Counter-Strike and Warcraft 3 players. In the ESL Pro Series or internationally in the Intel Extreme Masters or WC3L, nowhere else can participants earn so much money by playing CS or WC3.

The Chinese ESL ProGamer League (PGL) starts with the second season. World's best Warcraft 3 players from Asia mess in ESL PGL 2 and compete for approximately 14,000 Euro prize money, honour and glory. You will find all participants and the 32 participants of the Asian qualifier in this news. European superstar and winner of the first Intel Extreme Masters season will be there as well.

Things are looking good for the ESL team, 24 hours after the launch of the Spinhenge@Home race against P3DNow a small lead has been established and new members are steadily joining the team. Various reasons motivate our users to help out – some want to support science or the ESL, while others are keen to get their special award. No matter what your reason might be, anything goes.

Eight days have passed since the last teams have been determined for the WC3L Season XIII, and today we will have a look on what has happened during the qualification and try to give you a short insight on the qualificants.

After taking the 1st spot in Rosetta@Home by storm in only a few months, we focused our combined computing power on Spinhenge@Home, a German project from the University of Bielefeld. We have done a good job so far by reaching the 2nd spot and have been challenged to a race by the current leaders of the ranking - Planet3dnow. The operators of Spinhenge asked us to wait until January. So now it's time - Gamers, please start your engines!
