After 40 matches full of tension and nearly two months of harsh competition the qualification tournament for the eighth season of the WC3L is finally over. In the upcoming regular season the following four teams will join the league:

Once again we would like to congratulate and welcome these teams and their players!

The WC3L will take a little break during the next weeks. The new season will start on July 21st. In the meantime we are planning to bring you a couple of special events. We will also announce rule-updates, a proper schedule and previews for the next season, soon.

Today starts the second groupstage of the European Nations Championship with Fifa 2005. The matches of Monday are wildcarded by the teams, therefore we must wait a little bit longer for the first matches of the second round. Now the time has come, today we have two matches. In Group A plays Poland against the Turkey and in Group B the opponent of The Netherlands are Austria, one of the favourites in this group. The Games are beginning at 20.00 and 21.00 CET.

The WC3L staff would like to thank all teams participating, as this has been one of our best qualification tournaments ever (bar a few clinks in the chain here and there).

Congratulations to Pentagram for qualifying for WC3L Season VIII!

With the finals from the seventh season of the WC3L being done for just about a month now, we have some real great surprises for everyone here who was unable to catch the action live. ESL-TV has been nice enough to release, for free, a download of the video streams from the first two matches of our finals between 4Kings.Intel & SK-Gaming and Team mYm.Hanbit and Team64.AMD.

For those of you who did manage to see the stream live, you will now be able to relive the great moments of these matches, including the amazing series between 4K.Grubby and SK.Zacard, as well as the amazing games between 64AMD.Creo and mYm]GoStop.

While these two matches are the only current ones released, over the next few weeks, ESL-TV will be releasing the streams to the rest of the matches, so keep checking in for more updates!

Well, it seems as though our wonderful qualification tournament is coming to an end. With the completion of our two matches on Wednesday, the stage is set for our Loser Bracket Final matches to commence. The two teams that lost their Winner Bracket Finals will have a chance to redeem themselves today, while the Loser Bracket teams have fought their way through their bracket after falling short a while back.

These matches will be played between Thursday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 29, meaning that by this time next week, our qualification tournament will officially be over.

Its hard to see, but: The ESL got a new regional start page. Daily, the Electronic Sports League produces a wide variety of different forms of content, from news to match results, from downloads to forum threads, and much much more. The purpose of the new start page is to present these many forms of content in a more efficient way.

With the last game of the other Loser Bracket match being played on Wednesday, we're going to be able to see which two teams move on to the Loser Bracket Finals in one day. The first groupstage of the European Nations Championship are over and we have 8 happy teams, which are participate in the next round. Congratulation to Denmark and the Netherlands from group A, Russia and Team Poland from group B, Germany and Austria from group C and Italy and Turkey from the last group D. Groupstage II starts at the 27th June with the first Matches.

Today the last match of the groupstage I starts at 20.00CET. Germany play against Austria and the winner are the first of group C. We are very excited, which team have a better day tonight and can win this great match. Both teams are already qualified for the next round. It's only the question, which team is in group A or in group B in the the next round - groupstage II.

With only two qualification spots left, the pressure is mounting for the remaining clans in this seasons qualification round. The time for show-stopping performances has arrived! Having all faced a match loss previously, another loss for any of these teams would mean certain elimination from the tournament. On Monday, LanFan.WC3 and DkH.Keyweb go head-to-head to find out who will stay and move one step closer to qualification glory, and who'll go home, and back to the proverbial drawing-board.

It’s all decided today.

First and foremost, we would like to give a great big congratulations to our first two qualifying teams in Incredible Teamaction and goodgame. They both perservered through 4 rough matches to earn their qualification spots, and that is no easy task. So once again, congrats.

Now, just because the Winner Bracket spots have been chosen does not mean that our job is done just yet. We still have the Loser Bracket to finish off, and we are now heading into the fourth round, or for all intensive purposes, the semi-final round. These matches will be played between Thursday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 22. Here is a look up the upcoming matches:

Tonight at 19.00CET you are able to watch four games of the European Nations Championship with Fifa 2005. We can see the first decisions today. Group A is full of pressure. A big week is coming up here at the WC3L, as we will soon find out who the first two qualification spots will go to as the Final round of the Winner Bracket is upon us, meaning the winner of those matches get a spot in Season VIII. During today's clanwar we encountered some discrepancies. After further investigations we found out that Focus[K2] did not play his games vs Pentagram.NightWOlf, but instead it was Go)Winner playing for him. After confronting him with our proofs he admitted the deed and gave us the following statement:

Yes, its right that Go)Winner played instead of me and I am very sorry about this.Yesterday, I didn't sleep that much and i felt very sick today, as u can see at my default lose in the ige league. Anyways i waited for HappY today, but he didnt came online because it was too early i guess. I couldn't stay online any longer because i have problems to breath, so i decided to ask Go)Winner for playing instead of me. I know this was the wrongest choice i could ever take, but i guess my sickness harrased my brain too much so i wasn't thinking clearly. I am really sorry to CNN and specially to my teammates, that i cheated them all and i will take all debt on my shoulder.

We would like to mention, that the clan [K2] was very cooperative after being confronted with the unfortunate happenings, nonetheless the WC3L does not and will not accept such a behaviour. Therefore the clan [K2] will be disqualified from the ongoing qualifier tournament and the two players involved along with the clan are banned from the WC3L.
