Season #3 starts today with 3 matches from 2 diffrent matchups. First, at 5pm one 1v1 and one 2v2 of ocr (ocrana.D-Link) vs. a-L (a-Losers.MSI) will be played. The Tip-Game users give a-L a 73% chance to be the victorious clan in this matchup. So far there have been 72 tips on the outcome of playday 1. Among the users of the Tip-Game are pros as well as newbies like me (aka my sister's rabbit).

The second matchup partially being played today is XSa (XSarena) vs. rS. (rSgaming.com). The 1v1 from this matchup that we will see today at 8pm is rS.Shortround vs XSarena.ChobO. The 'tippers' accord XSa a 59% chance of winning.

Let me assure you that it will most likely be a lot harder to pick the winners in this season, making the game even more entertaining. Personally i decided to have my sister's rabbit pick the winners for me, as in the last season i had more than 50% wrong even if i only count the tendencies. The rabbit will probably out-class me. Oh well...

WC3L season #3 officially starts this Thursday (05/29/2003).
To give the clans the time to arrange dates for the first playday, we decided to publish the matchups from playday 1 in advance. A detailed list including all matchups and playdays will be available tomorrow.

WC3L season number two is over. After long hard fights in the play-offs here are finally the best three clans in season #2:

It was a great season with many very entertaining and very exciting matches.
The biggest surprise of this season probably was the armaTeam. When the season began most of the voters in the 'who will win the season poll' were thinking Schroet Kommando would easily defend their title, closely followed by mTw and a-Losers. At the end of the season a majority of the voters accorded the armaTeam the biggest chance to win it all, which wasn't very surprising as aT had not lost a single match during the regular season. In the end Schroet Kommando still was able to defend the title in a persuasive manner.

Another interesting aspect is that no current WC3L clan lost its place in the qualification. The only clan from season 2 which will not make it into season 3 is The-Feared. They withdrew from the league during the season due to internal problems. All this is a prove for the high skill level we allready had in season 2.
Nevertheless the skill level will rise even more in the next season as we are happy to welcome 4K (4^Kings), A- (a-Laget) and bmf (bmf.headz) to the WC3L. These clans have allready proven outstanding skill before entering the WC3L and we are looking forward to how they will fare in the league.

We, the WC3L staff, would like to thank all the clans, all the orgas and all the players for the good work and a very cool season. You all made the WC3L the world's strongest and best Wc3 clanleague.

Special thanks go to a-L.MSI.Gentho and mTw-ThePig for keeping this great season alive as long as possible. Gentho just won this very last game 2:1. Congratulations.

We might see Tak3r for mTw, who ,tied with SK.Insomnia, won most games for his clan or FatRandy, who is one of only two players having a perfect record. Individual player records can be found here.

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 5pm CET the WC3L season #2 will finally find its conclusion. In the long awaited final aT, the armaTeam, meets the players from SK, Schroet Kommando.

And aren't they great... These two teams have so many world class players, so much skill.
For aT we have InTox (won CPL Europe), Blatty (best European Undead), hazeem (by some considered world's best Orc), ToD, FaTC, Shore, LWL, Overmind and Rodhan. SK can bring up Insomnia (one of the best if not the best player of the world), SuRviVoR (the grandmaster of Hu vs Hu), MaDFroG (the micro-master), HeMaN, Beaver, Eirik, Dominator, sT0rM, NuKe. A few moments ago the first game of the WC3L Grand Final between aT (armaTeam) and SK (Schroet Kommando) ended. While the biggest part of the final will be played saturday afternoon the clans decided to play the firts 2on2 match today because some players won't have time this weekend. Both 2on2 teams won their postseason matches in round one so this game promised to be very exiting.

In both matches SK.SuRviVoR was able to show his superb skills making him one of the best human players worldwide at the moment. Supported by an as usual strong MaDFroG who played NE they were able to beat the UD (Blatty) / ORC (Shore) combination twice in a row and give SK the 1:0 lead in the WC3L Grand Final.

Today we're going to start the second round of postseason/preseason matches. In todays postseasons match the two german clans mTw (mTw.alternate) and a-L (a-Losers) will fight for the third place of season 2 in an interesting match for third place. Later the day TeG (The Elder Gods) and bmf (Black Mesa Force) will determine who of them will be able to compete in the WC3L next season and who has to wait another long 4 months to try to qualify again. The WC3L staff is still looking for some new members as well as the Go4WC3 staff does. To be able to work as an admin you should fullfill the following criteria:

If you ever wanted to spend half a day with the WC3L this is your chance. We start of with two qualification matches: 2o (objectif online) vs iC (iceClimbers) at 5pm CET and oG (original Gamers) vs uT (Team United) at 6pm CET. These are directly followed by by the playdown match ocr (OCRANA.D-LINK) vs Xsa (Xsarena) at 7 and the remaining matches of [pG] (Pro Gaming) vs rS (rSgaming) at 9.
Now a few words as introduction for the new teams:
2o is a strong French team. They have one member of the French national team in their lineup. iC is just another example as to how Swedes seem to have a natural gift for rts games. oG comes from Belgium and they also have members of the national team in their roster. Team United is a truely international clan with a little focus on eastern Europe.

There are so many new faces and new clans, so many matches being playing today and as to make it a perfect day the day finishes with two hot playdown matches.GOGOGO!

(The Khaos Korporation) will face TeG (The Elder Gods) in round 1 of the season 3 qualification. KK has several members of the Brasilian national team in their lineup including Gillian and Medmaster. The same goes for TeG which has members of the Romanian national team in their lineup (Dreamboy & Orly). Some TeG members are also known from doing well in recent Go4WC3 tournaments. The first qualification match for season #3 starts today at 9pm CET. It is Ai (Alien Invasion) vs SoL (Sons of Law).
Ai, a German clan, isn't new to the WC3L. They allready played in WC3L season #1, being eliminated from the league in the relegation for season 2 (1:4 vs mTw).
SoL is an Italian clan. They have got several members of the Italian national team in their lineup, effectively making them the best Italian WC3 clan. Whoever wins this clanwar will have to play the Swedish team A-Laget for a place in the WC3L.

There will be a German shoutcast featuring McHotDog powered by gamesports.de which will start arround 8:45pm CET.

Ai (Alien Invasion) vs. SoL (Sons of Law):

We decided to void the third game of the bo3 Ironman vs. Mimmox.
Mimmox disced during the game but had the upper hand. In game 2 Mimmox had agreed to restart the game after Ironman had misskilled his farseer, showing the manner and fair sportsmanship we would like to see in the league. When Ironman demanded a forfeitwin due to the disc we considered that not fair and mannered and thus overruled his decision as it is possible under rule 1.4. This game thus has to be replayed.

Today at 8pm CET we're going to start the hot 2 weeks of playoffs, playdowns and qualifiers. The German clan [pG] (pro-gaming.net) will then face the US clan rS. (RsGaming.com). The winner of this matchup has earned itself a valuable prize: a slot in WC3L season 3! The loser will have to face the winner of original Gamers vs. Team United to fight for another season 3 slot.

Good news for all shoutcast fans out there. Our friends from Gamesports.de are going to cast nearly all playoff, playdown and qualification matches. Additional information about the shoutcasts like the exact link , starting time and caster will always be available in the news about the matchups. Since their shoutcasts will all be german we will try to additionally arrange an english shoutcast for most of the matches. Stay tuned for further updates and some nice shoutcasts!

It's done! The second regular WC3L season ended a few minutes ago. Now we're heading straight towards the playoffs and playdowns. At the end of the regular season we have the French clan Armateam finishing first with a total of 36 points. Second with the same number of points but a loss in the direct comparison is last season's champion Schroet Kommando. The third place goes to mTw.alternate which thus is the best German clan of the regular season collecting 25 points. The 4th and final playoff spot goes to Advanced Online Losers.MSI who finished just 2 points behind mTw. The complete regular season table can be found here.

**Season 3 rules**

In addition we decided to publish the current version of the rules for WC3L season no3. Those rules are not valid for playoffs, playdowns and qualifiers but we desided to make them available to you in order to prepare yourself and give you the possibility to suggest rule changes.

1: General

1.1: These rules are valid for all persons playing in the WC3L Clanleague. When registering you agree to read the rules and to follow them, as well as to regularly check for updates, additions, etc.

1.2: Behaviour: Players are expected to be courteous and respectful of their fellow gamers and admins. Extreme cases of ignoring this will be punished.

1.3: Eligible for playing are all players who own a copy of "Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos". The current version will always be used to play, the game speed is 'fast'.

1.4: Admins reserve the right to change or modify these rules, and in special cases make decisions not covered by these rules.

1.5: An updated list of the official WC3L-staff is always available here: http://warcraft3.ingame.de/liga/clanliga/impressumclanliga.php

1.6: Clans are responsible for all changes in their clanprofile as to keep it up to date.

1.7: The WC3L is not responsible for additional agreements between players or clans and these agreements are only allowed if they don’t violate any of the existing rules. There is no way that the WC3L is going to enforce an agreement.


2: Warcraft III

2.1: Maps: Valid map choices are all 1vs1 ladder maps for 1vs1 games and all 2vs2 ladder maps for 2vs2 games, the first map is always Lost Temple in both 1v1 and 2v2 . The loser of the 1st game can pick the map for the 2nd game and the loser of the 2nd game can pick the map for the 3rd and final game (Note: game 3 is only played if the score after 2 games is 1:1)

2.2: Server: Games are to be played on EUROPE ( Northrend ), it is possible to play on a different server if both clans agree to it (make sure to contact a WC3L Admin when changing servers).

2.3: Replay: Each player must save the replays of each game and give them to his clanboss after the match!

2.4: Cheats/hacks: All programs modifying the Warcraft III memory or files are forbidden. If a player is caught hacking, all of his games of the current season will be changed to 0:2 losses and he'll be banned from the current season!

2.5: The following "bugs or imbalances" will not be allowed to use in the WC3L games (using them will result in a loss for the particular game): The "Dragon Bug on Plunder Isle"


3. Season

3.1: The league consists of 12 clans, each with at least 5 players, each clan must play 11 matches per season.

3.2: Games are to be played between Thursday 5:00 pm CET and Wednesday 11:00 pm CET once a week. Playing on a later day is only possible for the two postponed matches and must be signed by one of the admins. To set the exact day and time for the clanwar the clan must send a mail to the opposing clanteamcaptain as well as to Baschi ( baschi@go4wc3.de ) or Fruitbomb ( fruitbomb@go4wc3.de). The exact date and time of a clanwar must be send to the admins until Wednesday 11pm CET! The date and time for the postponed matches must be set at the end of the week else the admins will force a date and time.

3.3: Postponing Each clan has the possibility to postpone exactly 1 match at the selected date and time. A new date and time must be found as soon as possible and is to be mailed to Baschi ( baschi@go4wc3.de ) or Fruitbomb ( fruitbomb@go4wc3.de ).

3.4: Observers If both players agree to observes people are allowed to observe WC3L-games. Of course it's prohibited for players to have direct or indirect contact to observers while playing. Admins of the WC3L, shoutcasters and coveraging people of our partnersites have the undeniable right to observe.

3.5: These Channels are important: Bnet: Channel clan wc3l EUROPE ( Northrend ) ... IRC: #WC3L (public channel) and #WC3L-players (each clanleader must put this channel in his perform list)! In order to improve the communication between the clans and admins each clan should send a responsible person for every playday into this channel 30 minutes before a clanwar actually starts, that person should be available from then on until 30 minutes after the last game has been played. We also recommend that all players online idle in the private channel!

3.6: The opposing clan brackets are not visible until 30 minutes before start of the clanwar. If the status is switched to "visible", the brackets aren't modifiable anymore.(if a clan wants to change his line-up after the brackets are visible, it is possible to do so, but ONLY if the other clan agrees to it.

3.7: Per match there will be three 1on1s and two 2on2s, all being best of 3. We advise clans to start with the team games first.

3.8: Every won best of 3 match gives the clan 1 point, a maximum of 5 points can be won per week.

3.9: A player is allowed to play 2 games each clanwar (1x 1on1 and 1x 2on2, playing 2x 1on1 or 2x 2on2 is prohibited)

3.10: The teamcaptain of the loser team has to report the result (lossreport in clanadmin-area).

3.11: The teamcaptains of both teams have to send the replays of his clanfight (zip-format !!!) to wc3lreplays@go4wc3.de or dcc them to one of the available admins right after the clanfight!

3.12: If both sides fail to send a replay of a match within 24 hours after the clanwar they will get a point of punishing. For every 5 points of punishing a clan will lose 1 point in the clantable.

3.13: Disconnects: In the case of a disconnect during the first 3 minutes, the game is to be restarted. If a player disconnects at a later point it is a loss in 1v1, or in 2v2 the second player can finish the game.

3.14: Default win: A clan can ask for a default win 45 minutes after the opponent failed to show.

3.15: Inactivity: After a clan has missed a game twice without a valid excuse the clan may be removed from the league.

3.16: The top 6 clans from season 3 are automatically qualified for season 4.


4. Clanchanges

4.1: If a clan isn’t able to continue the season within the first 3 playdays it might be replaced by another clan that will continue the season with the actual amount of points of the leaving clan. In case that the clan can or will not be replaced all clanfights against this clan will be scored as a 5:0 win for the opponent.

4.2: If a clan in the WC3L acquires a player from another clan in the WC3L this player will not be allowed to play for the new clan in the next clanwar. The player will in addition not be allowed to play a clanfight versus clans that he had played against with his old clan. This rule is only valid for the regular season not the playoffs or playdowns.


5. Playoffs / Playdowns

5.1: If two clans have the same amount of points at the end of the season the clan who won the clanfight between those two clans will be the higher ranked one.

5.2: At the end of a season, the top 6 clans will go into Playoffs, the matches in the Playoffs will be #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5. The winner of #4 vs. #5 will meet #1 and the winner of #3 vs. #6 will meet #2 who will have a wildcard in round 1. The winners of those matches will then meet in the final, while the losers have a match for the 3rd place.

5.3: At the end of a season, the clans ranked 7th-12th will go into Playdowns, the matches in the Playdowns will be #7 vs. #12 ; #8 vs. #11 and #9 vs. #10; the winner of those matches will be qualified for the next season of WC3L. The loser of those matches will have to play a qualify game against a new clan, the winner of these matches will fill the last three spots for the next season.

During the last weeks a lot of things happened behind the scenes and during the next days most of them will finally see some daylight! Today we are proud to announce the list of clans that will be given the opportunity to qualify for season 3. We had many applications from all over the world and a hard time deciding which clans should get their opporntunity to join the WC3L. In order to give more clans a chance and to improve the WC3L even more we decided to increase the number of clans in season 3 from 10 to 12. Thus we will have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 new clans in the next season! **Qualification brackets:**

Due to the number of open spaces being considerably smaller than that of possible candidates we will have to play 2 qualification rounds! We decided to give Four Kings a free qualification slot (wild-card). That occured due to the withdrawal and thus direct elimination of T-F from the WC3L and because most of their players have already proven their skill within the WC3L. Due to some delays in the match finding progress the WC3L staff has decided to change the time the season will end from today 11pm CET to sunday may 11th 11pm CET. With that additional time we want to give all clans a chance to play their games instead of maybe unpopular decisions by the WC3L staff. So it's up to you clans and players out there to get all those postponed matches done during the next days. If you need any support finding a date and time or if you maybe even need to do some lineup changes don't hesitate to ask us. We will be available nearly all day in irc!

To warm things up today the two german clans mTw (mTw.alternate) and ocr.D-Link (OCRANA.D-LinK) will play their playday 9 matchup. Since the difference in points in the top area of the table as well as in the middle area is very small this matchup like most of the postponed matches is crucial concerning playoff and playdown spots. Tonight the second of the two aspirants for going as first ranked into the play-offs also known as SK (Schroet Kommando) makes his last appearance in the round robin. SK has to versus XSa (XSarena).
Although the match itself looks like the usual business it is of great importance to the teams. For SK this match is the very last chance to get back at aT. After aT faltered vs [pG] on Tuesday last week (aT vs [pG] current standing: 2:2. 1 game pending) their margin over SK is only slim i.e. 1 game. Both clans have about the same number of postponed games still open.
Now for XSarena this is a diffrent story. They fight for a better position in the play-downs after losing to one of their closest competitors 2:3 last week. If they win or lose by only a small margin they could gain up to 3 places and a comfortable starting point for the play-downs. XSarena still has the entire match vs eSu from playday 8 open.
