WC3L announces China Qualifier
In the past few years the Warcraft 3 Champions League expanded into all parts of the world and became a place for Warcraft 3-players and fans from all five continents. Today we are happy to announce another big step towards the Asian scene. Together with the ProGamer League we will bring you the WC3L China Qualifier: An all-Chinese tournament for China's sixteen most eager and competetive clans. The two winning teams will gain a free ticket to the upcoming 12th WC3L Qualification Tournament.
If you're interested in taking part in this tournament feel free to send an application to ericfang@mypgl.com from now until Saturday, May 5th. Please note that only 16 Chinese teams are eligible to play in this tourney. Additionally, your application should contain the following information:

  • Clan name & ESL team ID
  • A short clan history
  • A list of your players and their ESL ID
  • Team manager's contact information (i.e. MSN, QQ, etc.)
  • Your internet provider

The tournament will start on Monday, May 7th and end on Sunday, May 13th. The two best teams of this tournament will each gain a spot in the upcoming WC3L Quali for Season XII!

Nice, now the averaged skill-level of the wc3l is rising....
There are 2-4 teams, which aren't that successfull.
Maybe the Chinees will fill these slots. ;-)

why do the chinese need a tourney to join the qualification when the others don't need to join a tourney and can enter the qualification immediately?

dont think its necessary to spend an extra tournament on chinese clans! troubles with connection and delay will make watching annoying

The text doesnt state that the next qualification will be limited to 2 chinese teams it just says that 2 will get a ticket for sure by winning this tourney...

Good step, i think there are plenty of good teams in china. What if the WC3L got 100 applications only from chinese teams? So lets find the two best and give them a slot. And by the way... the others can apply anyway I guess, don't they?

How is it racism? This is the direct opposite who wants to embrace the Chinese scene and connect them to the international gaming scene.

#8 you got it wrong

Non-chinese clans need to fill in 10.000 forms and have to prove they might be wc3l-worthy before they will even get an invitation to the qualifiers; these chinese clans can get into the qualifiers by simply winning a tournament; they dont have to do all this stuff to prove they have a decent organisation and enough decent players.

I personally think its the wrong way of gettin clans into the quali's, especially chinese clans. You really need clans with a good organisation, otherwise we will just get more delays, more wildcards used, more deflosses, more matches not played or played to late.

Well when I first read that post I thought WC3L is going into the right decision, but now I doubt that the decision can be right, as WC3L is becoming are more or less asian-league with some european clans, instead of a european league with some asian ones. Clanwars between those clans will be schedulded early in the morning or way to late to really follow that clanwar as normal student or whatever.

Secondly, IF you do such a qualifier, why dont you build up a WC3L Chinese/Asian Season I as a whole?

That would be fair, competitive and reasonable, I dont think you can call this decision a reasonable one.

Maybe you should even create a European/American WC3L and an Asian WC3L, and the offline finals should be between the best 2-3 teams from each league to determine the best in the world...

#23 Don't like the idea.. there are just too little competitive all european teams - and I doubt that anyone wants WC3L Europe to be a noob league like NGL TWO.... (not to speak of the American one)

It's fine as it is, just the connection issue is a point.

for now the Internet bandwidth between China and the United States have already saturated.

the best host for chinese player like: ifnt_cocacola also have more then 200 ping.

yeah, guys the host problem situation is not good.

actually, chinese net is worst in the world.

But, why wc3l need chinese team? why not eu us or
kor? I think the point is that Electronic Athletic(Special War3) developping is good in china. the market have good future and very big.

as eu play Dota, kor play Sc, etc.

So consider the 2008 Beijing Olympic, a new Costing 500 million China-U.S. Cable builted,
the best team league"wc3l" choose china.

:), ofc this is my words in very poor eng. whatever anyone have different opont can communicate.

well, China vs europe would be better and fair on central Russia host, the distance isn't that big as between EU and China from the side of America.

Hmm, it is okay to involve more chinese clans this way. Will be interesting to see which players it will bring to the scene.

However, if I remember correctly if no host can be found Battle.net Europe is to be used? Guess chinese clans should consider this before applying. I don't want to hear lag complaining going on and on, it's too much anyway.

And ofc. the Visa problem when it comes down to the finals.. but its only for qualifier for now, so..

Cool idea but it makes no sense that these clans don't have to show that they meet the same organisational standards as the other clans that enter the WC3L Quali's.

sweet, chinese clans. Chinese clans are great for non-chinese clans, because you just force US West host on battle.net. Works every time.

that's good i think.
wc3l will certainly make sure that those clans fulfill the requirements in organisation etc.
and why shouldn't the schedule for a chinese quali suit chinese time?
that is a sort of interesting step of course because wc3l never did anything like that before..
I did not know there are that many chinese good teams to make this pay off
but well, let's see what happens

14 best Chinese WarCraft3 Clan fight for 2 c ces to play only Qualifier? I can't beleive that! As you can see the reps from WC3L announces China Qualifier, without Internet acess problems, the average skill level of Chinese players are totally shown to the public. I don't want wo see the second "WE.IGE vs Sca.Int" , the only thing which against Chinese clans fight for the glory is to find host. That's what i am worried about.
Anyway, best clans such as BET or GoldTel can win their postitions in WC3L Season 12 for the reason of their rosters. Other teams are mostly trained in RTB(Replays.Net Team Battle League). They really wanna c ces to play in the professional field.
