WCIP Playoffs Round 1 Recap : Let The Controversy Begin
| |||
![]() Round 1 is finished, and two teams are eliminated, but wait a minute, is there also a team that is more than just eliminated from this season's Playoffs?!?! I recap what went down in the matches just in case you missed it. This article is pretty long and in depth, but you won't regret reading all the mess that went down. Read more for the details!
Preliminary Round RecapIf I had to pick 1 word to describe both clan wars as a whole, its the word Delay! Both clan wars saw heavy delay either due to players' late arrival, or due to postpones. That wasn't the only thing plaguing the first round though... Up first we saw the clash of these two titans, and definitely the must see games of this war is the 2on2. Faculty's 2on2 team of ReiGn and AcRo were a huge surprise in making use of their Tauren Cheiftain mass headhunters along with Priestess of the Moon with mass huntresses strategy. It absolutely dominated Roll and SDmK's class Night Elf and Undead combo. That was just kicking off the war though as Roll then answered back with a win over AcRo so easily, you wouldn't think you were watching a semi-pro match up. After much time of waiting for ReiGn, and then SDmK, their match finally kicked off in a heated Undead vs Undead mirror match to start off in which SDmK too the first win. ReiGn switched it up on game two on Echo Isles and actually went Orc. This proved to be the magic he needed and actually defeated SDmK to tie it up in a huge 100 pop battle of every unit you could imagine. On Turtle Rock it was back to Undead mirror match power, and ReiGn avenged himself and his team by picking up the win this time putting his clan in the lead 2:1. This match was actually postponed, since Kas failed to show up for the clan war. It was a shame, since this would have been a great match to cover on WCIP Live. The WCIP MVP squares off against the god-like human from Ukraine, in which Kas needed to win to keep his team alive. It seems Mountain King and mercs solves on the first map of Melting Valley as Kas took the win there. Game 2 on Secret Valley, Kas just plainly out played S.O.K.O.L. and picked up the win by just excellent human play. Clan war score is now 2:2 at this point and it all comes down to the last match! (During the Clan War) Team Faculty was already on edge about Roll showing up so late to the clan war, but he finally arrives and we are ready to begin. Famous caster (Postponed match) Fast forward a few days now, brand new day, Effect ready to play, and Please ready to play. Ancient Isle game goes up, and this time looking pretty decent for Please, but then the unexpected happens, Effect's starts experiencing heavy delay once again. We re-host the game (I kid you not) 3 times on the same host, and to no avail, his internet drops again. This time only for about 20 minutes. He finally returns on a refreshed connection, and we get Ancient Isles started again. The game actually went all the way through, but Please actually dominated Effect and took the first win, putting SJ Gaming 1 game away from winning the clan war. Second map was on Echo Isles, and sure enough, Effect starts lagging again, but is able to save the game, and the lag seems to simmer down (for now). Fast forward 5 minutes or so later, Effect's internet drops once again. The game was saved 5 minutes earlier, but the problem is, too many things had happen since the last save which included: Hero kills, Footmen kills, and expos, thus making the previous Save game invalid if the player who didn't drop (Please) decided not to play on the save game. Please decided not to play on the save game and took the win over Effect 2:0 thus giving SJ Gaming a ticket to Winner Bracket Semi Finals, and knocking Faculty out. Even though this is may be controversial, Please could legally take the default win, since the disconnect happened after the first 3 minutes of the game, and Effect did not have any clear advantage. Final Score: 3:2 Click Here for Match Details! Lets just say Faculty is definitely not happy about this.....Click Here to see Faculty's Reaction A word that describes this clan war as whole is Pathetic. I won't go into much detail as the SJ Gaming vs Facutly clan war, for the simple reasoning of I literally can't, and you will see why as you read on. To keep it simple, Gab's star player Nicker had to attend the Blizzcon tournament, so his match had to be played early against KerchNET.Majestic. To everyone's surprise, KerchNET.Majestic defeated Nicker 2:0 locking in the first point for sTa in this playoffs match. Now it gets really funny from here. Now this is real clan war time, remember the Nicker vs Majestic match was a prepone, so now we are all pumped and ready to get this started. 2on2 kicks off instantly and on time with some great action, but then all of a sudden Dolorian starts getting some lag, and the game must be saved and we must change host (Sounding real familiar I bet). We finally get a new host, and the game is looking like its nearing its end, and sure enough, now Dolorian needs to save again, and reboot. He finally comes back about 10-15 minutes later to finish up what was left on game 1 on Avalanche. Team GaB loses it and sTa now takes a lead of 1:0 in the 2on2. Game 2 goes on Twisted Meadows, and in the first 15 seconds of the game Dolorian writes "can't play on this host" and leaves the game, but it doesn't stop there. He then refuses to play at all and forfeits the 2on2 series for team GaB. Now sTa lead the clan war 2:0. Its time to start the next series of matches since the 2on2 was a default loss (A great thing in playoffs), and to team GaB's surprise, Myth did not show up for the clan war. There was nothing that could be done as GaB had already preponed 1 game, so they were not allowed to postpone, so this lead to a default win for Bly since Myth failed to show. this now granted a super easy win to sTa with a score of 3:0 to move them on to the Winner Bracket Semi Finals. Final Score: 0:3 Click Here for Match Details! Team GaB's poor player organization this war costed them heavily. They were so angry indeed with this that they actually booted Myth from the team. The entire clan war lasted 59 minutes and 45 seconds, while all the fans got to watch only the first game of the 2on2. What a clan war indeed. Its awesome, I know. In all Round 1 was pretty poor, but expected an exponential increase in the coming Winner Bracket finals, as now the champions will be unleashed as they have been starved for a clan war for a while now. Stay tuned for news on the Playoffs!
