Last change: 21.10.2011 21:47

These are the rules for the War Rock Close Quarters Combat 3on3 Plus Ladder. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Rules & Information and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. All players must meet the requirements listed in the Rules & Information at the time the match is scheduled to begin. The rules are a guideline and the decisions by admins may differ from them depending on the circumstances. If you have any questions about the rules, please write a support ticket.

1. Ladder Rules

1.1. Challenging

In a ladder any participant may challenge any other. The challenge may be refused by the challenged if they choose. In ladders with more than 20 participants compulsory challenges are activated. If a participant is within 20 places above the challenging participants the refusal will be punished with one penalty point. If both participants are in the top 10 then the refusal will be punished with 2 penalty points.

A challenging participant from the newcomer pool (unranked) is considered as being at the bottom of the ladder, therefore the 20 participants ranked last in the ladder would be punished for rejecting a challenge.

Participants that have more than 5 outstanding challenges in a ladder, no matter if the matches are confirmed or not, may not take on any further challenges. This is scripted into the ESL system and cannot be changed.

1.2. No show

If your opponent does not show after 20 minutes, you must enter the result as your opponent did not appear in time. Do not enter a default win for yourself.

In Instant Challenger matches the no show time is 10 minutes.

1.3. Several squads (sub-teams) per team in one ladder

Any team may enter as many squads into any one ladder. However, only one squad can qualify for a premiership. A team is not allowed any more than one squad in a premiership.

During ladder play, no two squads from the same team are allowed to play each other.

1.4. Agreements

Certain agreements between participants are allowed to slightly differ from the ESL rules. Agreements that differ greatly from ESL rules are however not allowed. Please note that the ESL rules were made to ensure a fair match for all participants. You are not allowed to file a protest after the match if you think that the agreements made before the match in the end resulted in a disadvantage for your or your team.

Rules that can be changed with agreements are explicitly stated. Rules that do not explicitly state they can be changed by agreement, cannot have agreements made.

All arrangements between participants, made in addition to the ESL rules have to be written down in the match comments. The other participant has to confirm the arrangements also in the comments. To avoid abuse of the edit function, a third comment must be written.

Please also keep screenshots and/or logfiles of your arrangements. If you do not fulfil these requirements, any protests or supports concerning arrangements will be rejected.

The following rules may never be changed by arrangement: - Entering results for matches that have not been played - Allowing players to play that are barred because of penalty points, or are barred in the league due to a ban - Allowing players to play that in leagues with premium requirement that are barred for not having Premium

2. Anti-cheat (ESL Wire Anti-Cheat)

ESL Wire Anti-Cheat is mandatory for all players to use for the full duration of all matches without exception. If a player cannot use ESL Wire Anti-Cheat then they are not allowed to take part in a match.

If the website is down, making ESL Wire Anti-Cheat unusable, then the match must be postponed.

3. Match Media

A screenshot of the on-screen results must be made of every game that is played. The screenshots must be uploaded onto the page with the match details as soon as possible after the game has ended. One screenshot showing each result (e.g. per half or map) is needed and can be uploaded by either the winners or the losers.

Non-existent screenshots lead to the assumption of a so-called “fake match”, a match that never took place. The screenshots must be uploaded within 24 hours after the game ends. They are to be kept for at least 14 days and must be presented to a player, or an admin at request.

Taking a screenshot is possible just pushing "Stamp R Sist" button on the keyboard ( printscreen ) or using FRAPS software (fraps.com).

If a team wants to report any kind of cheating/hacking of the opponent team , use of FRAPS is highly recommended to provide a video as proof.

4.3. Premium weapons allowed in special events

To allow some premium weapons , an event must explicitly be described as "Premium Weapons allowed". In this case some weapons will be allowed , ALL weapons have to be listed , usual allowed weapons can be used, ANY other unlisted is FORBIDDEN.

4.4. Lag

As we all know , WarRock is a P2P game and becouse of its netcoding , it often suffers of variable lags during matches.

Unfortunately, pings between 20-150 are normal on WarRock expecially in international matches. This is the reason why high ingame pings will be penalized only if it's possible to infer from a video that one team started lagging on purpose after loss of some rounds (the difference between initial pings and final pings must be remarkable and clearly visible , for example from 150 to 400 ms ) or there is a really high ping ( video or screens needed, see Rule "Intentional lagging").

If one player's ping is very high for all players of the opponent team and multiple screens are submitted , admins can decide at their discretion to re-open the match .

4.4.1. 999 and 0 Ping

Unfortunately sometimes players can experience some connection / routing problems during a match - these issues are pronounced expecially when 0 ping and 999 ping bugs are detected ( a 0 / 999 ping is visible in match stats ).

Usually rejoining the room can fix it . If at the end of a match it's clear from a video or screenshots that the opponent team abused these kinds of bugs , Penalty Points can be given and match re-opened at admin's discretion. Clear screens or videos are very important in this case , as admin must be sure one team exploited the bug to get an advantage.

Should pings' problems arise during an ESL match , rejoining is heartily suggested to fix them.

4.4.2. Intentional lagging

Players notice when they lag badly and exploiting it to win a match will be considered an unfair behaviour. If one player has a very high ping and/or he has a really hard lag on War Rock ( he is abusing it to gain an advantage ), he will be penalized with 4-8 Penalty Points depending on the frequency and relevance of the lagging.

4.5. WarRock GameAccount Change

The WarRock GameAccount, that has to be inserted into player's profile, is the nickname showed in game, not the login name typed by users to sign into the game. In order to allow each player taking part to available competitions, a WarRock Game Account is needed: it's possible to type it by clicking on Gameaccounts (SteamID, ...) link from profile's Settings.

It's possible to request a maximum of 1 change every 30 days. This range of time's calculation will start beginning from first WarRock Gameaccount change request. Any further GameAccount change request submitted before 30 days deadline will be rejected. Anyhow, particular and/or special cases could be taken into account by responsible Admin. Between these: - first GameAccount add - errors typing nickname (any error will be carefully checked by Admin Team before being validated) - eventual bugs

4.6. Sniper Ladder / Cup Rules

In Sniper-only Cups and Ladders only 3rd slot of Sniper character is allowed , with the exception of Barret and AUG.

4.6.1. Allowed rifles

- M24 (default one) - SSG

No agreement between the 2 players is possible regarding the use of other characters , it's only possible to make agreements regarding the use of PSG1 and AI_AW, which are premium weapons.

4.6.2. Ladder's maps

Every player can choose his own map like 1 on 1 ladder , always 7 rounds per side for a total of 4x7 Rounds ( 1 on 1 Ladder style ).

4.6.3. Penalties

Penalty Points:

1st time: 2 Penalty points for the player plus lose of 3 rounds. 2nd time: 3 Penalty points for the player plus lose 7-0 on one side of the map. 3rd time: 4 Penalty points for the player plus loss 14-0 on one map if the opposing player won the other map.

4.7. Bug using

Any player who is found using any relevant bug ( known or not) , will be penalized for bug using at admin's discretion (the responsible admin can decide in every instance whether the bug is relevant or not ).

This distinction between relevant and non-relevant bugs is made becouse WarRock is full of small glitches ( for example some nades can be invisible and with no sound without reason ). The decisive factor therefore is the player's will to exploit a bug and to gain an advantage toward the opponent player.

The 16*9 and 16*10 video display modes added some more textures bugs unexisting in other screen resolutions , any use of those will be penalized as bug use.

A clear video of bug using is often necessary in this case to demonstrate the opponent team/player exploited a WarRock bug on purpose .

Every player who is caught exploiting a bug during an ESL match will recieve from 4 to 12 Penalty Points depending on the frequency and relevance of the exploited bug.

4.8. Quick Spawn

Teams aren't allowed to plant or rush the other base before countdown reaches 2:15 during the first round of a side. If they get caught doing it, they will get 4 PP and round lost.

4.9. Creating new teams

Creating a new team account that falsifies the ladder or that is created in order to get rid of penalty points or to gain any other kind of advantage is illegal. New team will be deleted and in case of recurrence the admin staff will apply further sanctions against the original team and the players.

Creating a team to get ladder's points reseted to 1000 is considered as an undue advantage.

4.10. MOSS CPU Overclock and screenshots

MOSS is mandatory for all players to use for the full duration of all matches without exception. If a player cannot use MOSS then they are not allowed to take part in a match. In warrock ladders , you must use MOSS this way :

4.10.1. "Quick" ladders

(Quick 1on1 , Khyber Corner and 3on3 Quick) or night cups : Set the frequency to 2 and EOS active

4.10.2. "Normal" ladders

aka 4*7 (1on1 , Sniper, 2on2 and 3on3): Set the frequency to 5 and EOS active

5. Match rules

Certain arrangements between the teams/players are allowed. These arrangements may slightly differ from the ESL rules. Arrangements that differ greatly from the set of rules are however not allowed. Please note that the ESL rules were made to guarantee the same advantages/disadvantages for all teams. You are not allowed to file a protest after the match if you think that the agreements made before the match in the end resulted in a disadvantage for you or your team.

Rules that can be changed by agreements are to be found in the game specific (*) rules. Should this not be the case then you are not allowed to agree on changes.

All arrangements between teams in addition to the ESL rules have to be written down in the match comments. The other team has to confirm those arrangements in the comments. To avoid an abuse of the edit function, a third comment has to be written.

Please do also keep screenshots and/or logfiles of your arrangements. If you do not fulfil these restrictions, any protests or supports concerning those arrangements will be rejected.

The following rules cannot be changed by arrangement: - Entering results for matches that have not been played - Game privileges of players which are barred because of penalty points, or are barred in the league due to a ban - Game privileges of players in leagues with premium requirement, which have are barred for inactivity

5.1. Game-specific arrangements - War Rock

All arrangements about server , new players , Slots using etc must be written down clearly in Match Comments / Reports before the match and confirmed by both teams.

Xfire logs and such won't be considered valid , the only valid agreement is the one made using ESL website.

6. Penalty point catalogue

In general, a player and the team can receive up to 6 penalty points per match, unless a single violation has a higher punishment. A team is only punished once per violation, regardless of how many players. Where a player or team receives penalty points for multiple violations, the penalty points are added together.
