SWAT 4
Rule-Reminder, Part II
After the last news and the fun and trouble we had with that, I though it was time to give you an explanation of another rule. After checking the issues of the protest in march, I chose one that seems to be unclear as well :)
In this month we had five protests all dealing with the same issue. One of the teams playing a match left the match...

Like last time, it's time to quote a rule:

7.3.2. Game Abort
4 penalty points. If your opponent should deliberately leave during a match, you must make a protest. You must not enter a result yourself. This may be penalized as entering a fake result (rule 7.4.2.). Should the game have advanced to a point at which an evaluation of the result is possible, a win may be granted to the remaining team. The decision whether a match can be evaluated or not is in each case decided by the responsible admin.

So, what does this mean in general? In most of the cases, one team left the server and the other entered the actual score in the matchresults. This is exactly the wrong way!

When a team leaves the server they get a penalty of 4 penalty points. Entering a score instead of opening a protest is a fakematch. A fakematch also means 4 penalty points! So if it's done in the way described, it would mean 4 penalty points for each team. Also 4 penalty points is the limit for an auto-generated barrage of one week. So even if you think that you did nothing wrong, you get a barrage of one week, in most of the times connected with a lot of flaming about the opponent, the rules and the admins ;)

To give you a little overview, here are some random quotes from users from the last protests:

After admin opened a protest:
We both agreed to abord the match. Don't know why there is a protest, but I will enter the score later.

Also after admin opened a protest:
I never created this protest, why did you use my name to create it? That shows that I didnt accept my defeat and I made this protest to make a complaint. I never created this protest, I accepted my defeat and I said gg to the opponents, they were better, but we left the server.

Shortest protest ever:
Yes, we did left for our internal problems. Give us what we deserve. Bye.

Admin deleted the match as only one round was played:
You don't understand that it is a fuckin' rule. Everybody lefts before two rounds end. Change it, thank you. :)

So thats why we have a special offer for you today:

The official "How to write a protest"-guide

So, let's imagine you are playing a match. Everything seems to be fine, score is 200:5 for you when all of a sudden you cannot find any opponent, as they are gone. So you press ESC and make a screenshot where we can see the time of round, the score and the message of the opponent leaving.

It doesn't matter if your opponent left in the first round, if they left one minute before the match would have been over or if they left somewhere in between!

After that, first of all try to contact your opponent via messenger or match comments. Maybe they are on the same internet connection and their provider killed the line. Ask if they want to replay the incomplete round or the missing minutes.

If that shouldn't help, go to the ESL-page and open the setup of the game (that's where you normally would enter the score). Do not enter any score! Yes I know, I told you before, but as this is very important, it can be mentioned twice or even thrice. Just scroll down, below the send-button, you can find a very important link:

Here you can file your protest. You should add the following infomation:

  • How much rounds were played 100%

  • Time of round when your opponent left the server

  • Table of results of all played rounds and the one where the opponent left

  • Any kind of conversation you had with your opponent

  • Screenshots of all this (put them together in a zip, as you can only upload one file in each posting)

If all this is done correctly, you shouldn't have any problems.

If you have any questions concerning this topic, feel free to ask in the forum.

Greetings,
your admin team

I think some of people should take lesson about this rule :/
In my case(as for every players, I guess), when my opponents left server after 50% of the match(at least), I put the score(I know that rules doesn't say that) cause when I open a protest, it gets closed after many days. Recently I have not opened any protests after insults in game for the same reason. Now, seem that something is changing, cause you are more active in SWAT4, then no problems.
So instead of loosing a match which will result in -20 points for your team you just leave before 50% are played? So instead of -20 points you get 4 penalty points and can't play for what? a week? That's a cheap price, I'll use that next time I loose...
Yes, really strange...
You get a barrage for "only" one week, yes. But also you get 4 penalty points that last much longer. So if you leave another match, you already have 8 penalty points which means a much longer barrage.
Well, as I thought, it won't be good. I opened a protest 5 days ago, and there are no admins who solve it. :S I prefer getting penalty points instead suffering for an open protest.
this rule stinks :(
now a team gets punished for the other teams mistake..
