Today, we are proud to announce the first season of the ESL Country Championship on PokerTH! If you think competitive PokerTH is boring, you are dead wrong. It may not be as sexy as most of modern games like StarCraft II or CrossFire, but venerable old PokerTh still has its hardcore players!
History of Texas Hold'em
The true history of Texas Hold'em is yet unknown. The story goes that the very first location were the game Texas Hold'em was ever played was in Robstown in Texas around 1900. What made Texas Hold'em really famous was the World Series of Poker Tournament. The WSOP exists since 1970, where it took place for the first time at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas and ever since then the game Texas Hold'em, has been played by poker players all over the world.
Country Championship
The ESL has a long history of nations tournaments stretching back to at least 2004 when the first European Nations Championship (ENC) was held. Since at least 2009, for games not part of the ENC, instead ESL
Country Championships (CC) have also been held where countries from across Europe (and sometimes the world) can compete
for honour and prestige.
Rules & Match format
Information regarding rules and other information will be released soon, the big thing to know is that teams from around the world will be able to compete in the Country Championship 2012!
CC 2012: National Teams
First of all - a National Team belongs to the country's National Section. Admins from each country are the ones which should create the teams.
EU section of PokerTh will not interfere in Manager/Player selection if a team is created by a National Section!
At the moment, this is the list of countries that have confirmed their participation:

If your country is on this list, you have to wait for announcements in the National Section (e.g. /pl/pokerth) or contact the admin responsable for a team.
Countries not listed above will have the possibility of signing up later, with different procedures. Additional details will be posted in the following week. Please do not open any support tickets yet!
