Online Gamer 4tw!
And now for something different. We are gamers, which means for the most part we have highend machines. And we are with many. Combined these facts lead to a simple conclusion: We are starting a "Distributed Computing" - Team! This will serve science and at the same time it is nice to see with how many we are and how much computing power we have together. EVERY ESL user is encouraged to take part.
What is "Distributed Computing"?
For very complicated and large scientific calculations there are two options. Either you use a huge supercomputer or you split the large problem into thousands of smaller problems and let millions of PCs take a crack at it. Most of the computer power comes from unused CPU resources when the PC is not doing anything.

Many projects like these have been started, amongst others "Seti@home". We have chosen to work with "Rosetta@Home", which is a Biochemical project which seeks to fight sicknesses like HIV or Malaria.

The program will only use free CPU-resources, ie. nothing will be calculated when you are gaming. Your CPU usage will always show 100%, but this will also be given back as soon as other programs become active.

How can I help?
1) Download and install the BOINC Client: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

2) Choose "Rosetta@home" as project
(project url: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ )

3) Join the ESL Team ( teamid 5236 )
http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/team_display.php?teamid=5236

4) Enter "BOINC Cross-project ID" as Gameaccount in your ESL Profile, Your CID can be found at: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/home.php

Support the Team Electronic Sports League!

What is the use?
It is all for fun. It will be interesting to see how many ESL users we can get to join us and how fast we can get to the top of the Team-Ranking. Of course we will also be contributing to the greater good as this project is actually of real use for science. This also is a good argument when it comes to power usage of the modern PCs, especially in this time of climate change and global warming.

The goal
..is simple: 1st Place in the global Ranking. So download the software and inform your friends.
