New Jedi Knight:Jedi Academy 1o1 Ladder
| Author | Posting |
| Hello guys, We all know the Ladder is very boring, the rank 1-2 are blocked they never play, the player with under 900 points don't play matches and the activity is not very big.So why not a Ladder Reset? All player have the chance to start again, I think it will be more fun, maybe it brings some old players back. You don't get the activity with Cups, like JPS or 2vs2 Summercup. And I don't care about Drawners, Dureals 1900 Points or about zenturios 83-0-11 stats, if they care, they can join the ladder and get the points back. The fact is, that the Ladder is very bored and don't have the activity. Westbam opened a Therad at 2010: http://www.esl.eu/eu/jkja/1on1...rum/388/393/746583/?page=1 How can they wrote such stupid comments there? 90 percent of that what they written about the Ladder reset is bullshit. We need a 1o1 Ladder to get Players, they make teams and join the TDM Ladder. So,why don't start again? Maybe with the new ESL Mod from Yberion? It would be fair for all. And pls, I don't want unwanted Comments from Anubis, Witcher, Dani, or some other Fucktards, otherwise I support. And yes, my english sucks. Greets Hacher |

| drawner deleted his esl account that much he cares about this dead game, but dureal would never let that happend I think, well w/e nice post keep it up next time post a youtube song or something interesting ps: ppl like more cups than ladders cuz ladders are baised on elo system, while cups are bo3 system, no one really likes getting eloed.. -Trey out- |
|
| We did this in the German section and the activity increased a lot actually for like half a year. | |
afiNity wrote: We did this in the German section and the activity increased a lot actually for like half a year.Yes we did, and? The German 1o1 Ladder had not more than 15 members, 10 members of vin, so i never called it German 1o1 Ladder, i called it vintage 1o1 Ladder and btw, the International Ladder get more activity with that. All is better than now. |
|
| Would be nice if this could happen. Maybe after the finished ESL Mod and if there will be clientside, then with clientside make it happen. but what am I talking about, these lazy admins never gonna make anything expect dumbass cups |
|
| Thx Till, but I think the Admins have to.We are a Community, so we have to decide what happen, not only the admins. | |
| Good idea. Do it. Or just make new ladder and leave old one for science. | |
| I recall posting in the last one. I'm not honestly sure what my opinion was back then, but with the current state of the community, primarily pointing towards to TDM ladder and the state of it. I think now would be the time to implement a new 1on1 ladder. It did work for the German section for however long, I know it didn't stay really active after around half a year, but isn't that all we need right now? If we're honest here, the only people who are really going to care are people that are part-time players or ones that do not even play anymore. I would almost guarantee that it will bring "bigger" matches from members of the community trying to make it to #1, but, some people just do not like putting their points on the line versus people they can imagine beating them whilst they're trying to scale the ladder. Maybe have changed limits to the potential new ladder. So, challenge limit is three days (not sure what it is atm), the penalty points for rejected matches are higher, so instead of 1, they are a solid 3 or 4 and that the admins can be more active on the rank blockers, e.g. dexter, crimelord etc. So be actively keeping an eye on them, if they happen to reject x amount of Top20 matches then the admins have the permissions to remove those players for a week and then increment the time they're removed from the ladder by a week each offense, obviously you'd dispense warnings via the mail system when getting close to being removed. I believe there are enough admins for this to be possible, so, I don't think a system like this would be stretching your admin employees. |
|
| Agree on this. If people got tired of elo-system, why don't we put best of 2 system on this ladder? |
|
| We can't. Cores don't want normal ladders to have best-of-systems. | |
| Oh my, never thought i'd see the day Hacher posts a serious statement. +1. 1on1 Ladder reset would boost activity immensely. The top few ranks do stop playing once they get so high because of the fact they could lose some points. If everyone has 1000 again, so many people would enter with the possibility of playing, with equal opportunity against these players. Correct me if i'm wrong, but there are different elo systems available. We use, Total Win - Draw - Loss. Would using Total win - win - draw - loss - total loss not stop the points racking up so dramatically? it would keep the ladder closer, and stop people getting 1-0 and avoiding for elo, because with that score they could still lose points dependant on the outcome. -- "Excellence isn't a skill, it's an attitude" |

| taking all the points from dureal s gonna be vry haaaaard | |

| I like the bo3 idea, but if that wasn't ok, then using all five point systems that ESL provides for the other ladders would be a good idea. So, if you win both rounds you get the full points (total win), if you win 1/2 rounds but win on elo, you just get win and those points. So as an example right now, we have a match open vs arcani. With the current system, if we happened to lose, we get -42 points, even if we won a round, with this other system we'd lose 29 points if we won a round but still lost on elo. If we won both rounds we get +9, if we only win one round we actually lose 4 points due to each teams' current points. So, in other words, being elo'd is less of a big deal than it is currently. If you want the maximum points, you have to win both rounds. Which, in this current community, it makes a lot more sense. Sometimes you can get bullshitted on a server, we've all been there, the next round really doesn't matter because you won't be able to achieve the elo ratio that they managed to get on you in round one, but this should encourage people to not just give up, to not just throw in the towel, you still have points you can save even if it is obvious that you are going to lose after the first round which you got bs'd on. Something would definitely need to change if this "new 1on1 ladder" were to happen. Best of 3? Can people really be bothered to play potentially 30mins of 1on1? With the change of the points system we use, will this encourage higher ranked players to put their points on the line. Some people just look at those margins and think... "Is it really worth losing 42 points?", because elo is very much a key thing these days, more so than the past. |

| It was proposed long time ago and I never understood why it wasn accepted by the admin staff ... I support this idea even if I'm not a 1on1 player at all. Good luck hacher |

| I'd actually think it could work. That we open (a) new ladder(s) with this esl-mod + client implemented. Im always in for a more fair system anyway. But we are discussing this at the admin forums, there will be a poll aswell. And we need to see how this (client) stuff works so it isn't allot of work for the players to get it! Also need to see what commands to block or restrict certain values. If we restrict cl_timenude - completely, or keep it max at about -10 so people with a shitty connection can play properly aswell. What the lowest cl_maxpackets should be, I'd say not lower than 60. That everyone has to use rate 25000. Need to look into the cl_packetdup command, I honestly think setting it to 0 or 1 should be enough, the q3 engine was designed for 56k modems anyway, and I do think a higher value feels different from a clients pov. If anyone else got commands that can be abused or gives an unfair advantage over the opponent, feel free to post it here. Discuss! |

| I didnt know a new 1on1 Ladder would need to be linked with the release on an ESL mod. However it would be a good idea to test the mod within one ladder, if its a new ladder even better, so if it fails dramatically it has no effect on the other ladders or community. As it would be installed on servers, I see this may be a problem though. I still think the best way to make a 1on1 ladder work, and make people want to play is by using ELO properly. Sure #1 wont want to play #26 because he can lose -40 points. Yet the distance between #1 and #2 will be so minimalistic, he will need to play every match he can to retain that rank. @Toaster cl_timenudge 0; -- No need to have anything else, is there any players with a connection that can't cope? cl_maxpackets 60; -- Any reason to have 12 or whatever ridiculous value players use? rate 25000; -- I believe nothing more does anything within this engine anyway? cl_packetdup 1; -- Is this default? Retaining the default value is what would be best. -- "Excellence isn't a skill, it's an attitude" |

| Best settings would be : /rate 25000 ( sv_maxrate has to be at 25000 according with esl rules ) /snaps 20 ( sv_maxfps has to be at 25000 according with esl rules ) /cl_maxpackets 100 /cl_timenudge -12 /com_maxfps 100 -> 300 ( you need a fix fps ) /cl_packetdup 5 /r_displayrefresh 0 ( I don't know how it happen, but set it to 0 and you will see some changement ) |

Yberion wrote: Best settings would be :/rate 25000 ( sv_maxrate has to be at 25000 according with esl rules ) agree /snaps 20 ( sv_maxfps has to be at 25000 according with esl rules ) agree /cl_maxpackets 100 agree, but some people have shitty fps, so the packs lower anyway. therefore a minimum of 60 should be held. I doubt there is anyone that doesn't get over 60 fps with some graphics tweaks. /cl_timenudge -12 dont see a reason why people would use it anyway. 0 should be the value to go for /com_maxfps 100 -> 300 ( you need a fix fps ) Should be up for any value, just not below 60. /cl_packetdup 5 1 or 0, its 2012, this command was created for 24K - 48K dail-up modems. /r_displayrefresh 0 ( I don't know how it happen, but set it to 0 and you will see some changement ) Doesn't this change automaticly to the value your monitor supports in your running resolution? |
|
| I think we would let settings to its default limits, I mean : cl_maxpackets: 15 => 100 cl_timenudge: -30 => 30 cl_packetdups: 0 => 5 rate and snaps are blocked by server's config anyway maxfps use to more handicap you if you use a low one and don't handicap your opponent if you use an high one r_displayrefresh: whatever, it's your deal anyway. I don't know if I'll be followed on that one, but those believings around cfgs are a funny part of the game, and being able to create something that fit your style perfectly is not the advantage of every games. The ESL mod's aim is to force people to have the same tools in their hands. I know that it isn't in everyone's mind, and if values are forced by ESL admins, we'll force it, just think about everything the game will lose doing it. |
|
| Leave the default limits alone lol. Idk why was simple and good idea turned into esl mod talk again. | |
| Please, no ESL Mod things here, we have an Therad for that. And i stop playing if this comes.I use rate 25000 snaps 40 maxpackets 100 and maxfps 125 packetdup 1 and timenudge -30.I don't change any set, i get lags with lower maxpackets or i don't get my full range without timenudge. | |
hacher wrote: And i stop playing if this comes. Why ? You already play on a mod when you play on lolli or vice. |
|
| But I can't play with standart sets or changed sets.I have sets they are compared with my PC/Internet. |
