1. Ladder Rules
1.1. Challenging
In a ladder any participant may challenge any other. The challenge may be refused by the challenged if they want to. In ladders with more than 20 participants compulsory challenges are activated. If a participant is placed within 20 places above the challenging team at the time the challenge is answered, the refusal will be punished with two penalty point. If both participants are in the top 10 then the refusal will be punished with three penalty points.
A challenging participant from the newcomer pool (unranked) is considered as being at the bottom of the ladder, therefore the 20 participants ranked last in the ladder would be punished for rejecting a challenge.
1.2. No Show
If your opponent does not show after 20 minutes, you must enter the result as your opponent did not appear in time. Do not enter a default win for yourself.
In Instant Challenger matches the no show time is 10 minutes as well as in Cups. The absence of a team/player must be proven with respective screenshots /demos.
1.3. Banlisted Guids
If a user has a Ban-listed Guid, he is not allowed to play in any ESL Match. If he/she has been declared as not guilty, the ban-listed Guid will not be removed from the gameaccounts. The guid may not be used any longer in the ESL. The user has to get a new one. Every player with an active ban-list entry will receive a 6 month barrage, starting from the day the ban was entered in the respective Ban-list(s).
2. Matchmedia
2.1. Demos
A Demo of each round must be taken by each player. The replay must be saved for at least 14 days. A protest might be opened, and for cheating issues, these replays must be uploaded to the matchsheet. Replays will not be accepted!
2.2. Screenshots
One party of the match (team or player) must upload several screenshots of the match.
• Screenshots of every played round or the final map screenshot after playing 2 Stopwatch Rounds on the map
• SLAC Id Screenshot: Enter \sl_players in console. It will print users and their SLAC guids. If they're not using SLAC, or have disabled it, they will have "UNKNOWN" instead of a proper guid
• Deathmatch Screenshots: The score of each map is needed, use command: /scores and take a screenshot after the whole map
• Both parties (teams or players) have 24 hours to upload the screenshots after the match has ended. Otherwise both teams / players will receive one penality point for not uploading the screenshots completely in time!
3. Settings
3.1. Serversettings
The official Server settings are mentioned in this Global Configs Pack. Download this, and upload the cfg files to your server's FTP.
3.2. Playersettings
3.2.1. Forbidden Binds/Scripts
Scripts which automate a player's movement that should be done by actual player input are disallowed. Known examples for this are sniper-, jump-, lag- and 180°-scripts.
3.2.2. Forbidden programs
The use of external programs increasing the advantage from one player or team is forbidden. This includes every kind of cheat software: aimbot, palehook, wallhack, multihack... Cheats related to steal any kind of private server information, are forbidden as well. If Punkbuster or SLAC catches someone while cheating, a 6 - 24 months barrage will be entered and an appeal will not be possible.
4. Matchrules
4.1. Anti Cheat
Speedlink Anti Cheat (SLAC) will temporarily replace Punkbuster as offical anti cheat tool in the Enemy Territory section within the ESL.• only players with entered SLAC Id are allowed to play
• SLAC Id must be entered before the match date
• SLAC is mandatory for all official ESL matches
• MAC operating system: not supported, players are not allowed to compete in any ESL match
• Linux operating system: Allowed to play without SLAC after checking that they really use Linux: Checking via the console command "/cheaters"
You have to download & install SLAC and to register. After that you will get your very own SLAC id which you add to your gameaccounts: Adding the Id: Command Center >> Add gameaccount >> select SLAC Id
In order to play with SLAC you have to start Enemy Territory via SLAC. When playing with SLAC you can only join non-Punkbuster servers means for offical matches you still have to use the Global Configs (no pb version)
SLAC Frequently asked Questions4.1.1. Adding the gameaccount
To play in the ESL Enemy Territory section you need to enter your SLAC id (see Anti Cheat): Adding the Id: Command Center >> Add gameaccount >> select SLAC Id
4.1.2. Changing the gameaccount
Since it is not allowed to create more than one SLAC account, you will not change the gameaccount
4.2. General Rules
• Maps: There are no limited maps (e.g. all regular ways to go are allowed: Side on Braundorf, Radar and Frostbide etc.)
• Nicks: In game nicknames must comply with the nicknames entered at the ESL
• Misc: Planting dynamites at weird places which does NOT require men tower is allowed as well as Trickjumps, Prone and Selfkills
4.2.1. Server choice
The match will be played on a for both parties suitable server. Ping: Team A's ping + 60ms = Team B's max. ping otherwise Team B is allowed to swap the server.
4.2.2. Map & side choice
The contestant placed on the left side of the match sheet will choose the side of the first map (every team or player determines the sides on his own selected map). Maps are chosen when the match is scheduled by both teams or players. Once the match has the status OPEN maps cannot be changed.
4.2.2.1. Cointoss
In case of a tie after playing both maps, the map elimination procedure starts; the winner from the cointoss starts deleting the first map from the mappool, while the loser chooses the side.
4.2.3. Change players during a match
Players cannot be changed in the middle of the round. Every change must be done when one round is not being played, it doesn't matter if the map has not been fully played. Players may be changed during Warm Up. In case of a disconnect the respective team can use the pause function nevertheless the opposing team can allow to swap a player in that case directly.
4.2.4. Illegal actions
Following actions are forbidden:
• boosting more than 1 person
• planting dynamites on places which requires men tower
• planting dynamites on places which prevents defuse
• pausing game to use a bug on maps like Supply or Goldrush
• using or abusing any bug in the game and/or map
• blocking any doors
• kicking a player from the server by rcon
• Referees: Not allowed during the whole match
4.2.5. Spectators
Spectators are only allowed if BOTH teams or players agree. In case of the match is being broadcasted, no spectators are allowed, only ESL Admins and Shoutcasters are allowed to stay as spectators.
4.2.6. Timeouts
The server config determines the number of pauses each team has. In the course of fair-play the opposing team can take a pause if the pauses by the other team were already used.
4.3. End of match
Remember: In the ESL there are no def wins in ladders!
In ladders, ties are allowed but both contestants can agree to play a decider map. In leagues and cups ties are disallowed at all. Every match must have a score with a difference of 2, this means, scores like 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, etc...are not allowed.
4.3.1. 1on1 and 2on2 matches
4.3.1.1. CTF maps
These maps are without time limit. When a team reached the map objective, then they won the round. Round time is not counted here. Objective can be reached in overtime. Self kills are disallowed at all as well as Fire Supports and teamkills on purpose. Doing a self kill/Fire Support results in at least losing the round. In very special cases you even can lose the map. Once the match is over, the score must be entered into the match sheet. In ladders, ties are allowed. Both contestants MUST agree to play a decider. Also in these ladders, there are no default wins. In case of this, an Admin must act: the match will be removed and penalty points will be given.
4.3.1.2. Objective maps
All objective maps have a specific time limit. This is played in the usual stopwatch format. Self kills are allowed!
4.3.2. Team matches
The final score (won rounds) is entered as match result.
4.4. Leaving the server before ending
The players are responsible to make sure that their Internet connection, hard- and software (SLAC etc.) works. Generally there are no default wins in the ladders when less than 50% of a match are played but there can be default wins in other tournaments besides the normal ladder procedure.
4.4.1. 1on1 matches
In case of a disconnect during the game, for whatever reason, the round will be rated as loss for the player that disconnected. Depending in which case this happened, penalty points will be given or not.
4.4.2. Team matches
Leaving a server on purpose is not allowed and leads to a round loss if the needed minimum number of players (x-1) is not reached. Depending in which case this happened, penalty points will be given or not.
5. Penalty point catalogue

6. Broadcasting
Matches can be broadcasted by Bani’s ETTV. If you want to know more about ETTV look here (servers) or here (clients).
Match coverage can be requested on the GTV page or by asking an ESL Admin. The broadcast is only allowed if both teams agree! Broadcasts which are set by the ESL staff cannot be refused by players/teams.
