The first round of the playoffs finished last night with some surprises as top German teams ALTERNATE aTTaX and n!Faculty lost their matches. The second round of matches are set with teams facing each other in the upper and lower brackets in the New Year.

After many exciting matches, the groupstage of the first EMS is over. Normally the best 8 teams proceed to the playoffs. However since one team had to be disqualified, there will be only 7 teams this time.

This will be the last day of play in the group stage. The first two teams of each group will proceed to the final round, which will consist of 8 teams. These teams will then play for the overall win.

The German ESL Pro Series Finals will take place this weekend in Cologne. The German top teams and players will compete for 170,000 Euro in Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3, FIFA07 1on1 and Clanwar, Counter-Strike: Source and Command & Conquer 3. This news contains everything you need to know.
