Team Dignitas got 2 major penalties for missing Aequitas files, 1 major for Use of ineligible players and 1 for not showing up. Considering that 1 major penalty equals 10 points and the maximum points a team can have is 30,
Team Dignitas has to be removed from the cup and doesn't advance to the Playoffs.

| | Penalties are given for violations of the rules and fair play. Any rule violation that does not directly interfere with the competition of the ESL Major Series and does not violate fair play will be punished with a minor penalty. Any rule violation that directly affects the competition of the ESL Major Series or which is not in line with fair play will be punished with a major penalty, and a forfeit loss in relegation and playoffs. A major penalty is worth 10 points, a minor penalty is worth 3 points. If a participant's major and minor penalties combined total 30 or more points, they will be removed from the ESL Major Series. | |

How did this punish Team Dignitas?

No, because they were at LAN and their opponent even gave them a default win! And TF2 isn't as evolved as the other games, they had to use a merc, which should be allowed if the other team agrees.
ESL should just take the rules from ETF2L, because they were mostly made by the community.

no i'm pretty sure the point being made is that this is a really autistic, arbitrary application of rules that should not be applicable to a game such as tf2 because it functions much differently than cs/css.
dignitas are eliminated from the playoffs because... they were defaulted against.

We were as surprised as dignitas was. We had agreed to move the game from original date because dignitas could not play, at the new date however we unexpected were one player short without due notice, therefore could not use wildcard and decided to forfeit the game, which was accepted by dignitas (result of the game was clear for everyone anyways).
Last weekend we noticed that a protest had been opened by the administration of ESL and the game had been scheduled for sunday. After talking to admin I was told that by EMS rules in group phase there's no default win at no-show, no matter what teams agree upon, only penalty points and the game has still to be played and for a team that won't show on sundays game penalty points would be handed out.
We pointed out that dignitas had no chance to know of the scheduling for sunday because they are at dreamhack, but still tried to contact dignitas.
We aren't too happy with the situation, as we don't really feel we have earned a progress to play-offs, but we can't change it, and even without the major pp against us, dignitas would have 3 majors which would result in elimination.
Edit: why the fuck is it showing backslashes at apostrophes after editing?

Torden: "After a lot of pain to get a manual matchlink activated, I did get Aequitas to work. But, i wasnt allowed to upload it to the website, so it was uploaded to a private server."
So everyone in our team used aequitas. Bybben's aequitas didnt work properly in the end so I guess we must be punished for that. Must have been his fault, right?
We don't "demand" special treatment or something. I just wanted to point out that in our opinion
A: "no ringers, no defaults" rules suck, as both are allowed in every other tf2 league
B: The reasoning behind the penalties besides one of the Aequitas penalties were, tbh, stupid.
C: ESL should do something about the rules for the next season, if there is one.
I don't care that much that we were kicked out. What got my ire up was the way the admins handled this when we tried talking to them. They don't understand english and didn't even have the courtesy of pretending to listen to what we had to say. All they said was "rules are rules, sux2be u". Blindly following the rules ain't the best way to administrate a league.
Stuff like this makes me appreciate the ETF2L admin team who, despite some flaws, try their best to "serve the community".
ps. Where is our money from the last season? Cheers.
:)
