Announcing the 10th Season of the ESL Major Series

 We are back already with a brand new season, the tenth no less, with some of our old choices and a new one, and a record breaking prize pot! Since the summer of 2007 we have hosted a total of nine seasons with over 30 games, 179,000 Euros prize money and an incredible amount of teams and players involved from national qualifiers until the finals. Games that could not find a place in the Intel Extreme Masters but have found one in the ESL Major Series and vast communities spectating their best of the best players in Europe and beyond.
As with every season we began with evaluating the games already included. We could conclude that most of the games would return, unfortunately it was not the case for one. As we already announced a couple of them, the entire list will not be completely surprising, but we can also share with you the prize money and distribution.
The Games of Season X World of Tanks (7on7): 15.000 € league of Legends (5on5): 5.000 € Heroes of Newerth (5on5): 5.000 € Crossfire Europe (5on5): 5.000 € Counter-Strike: Source (5on5): 4.600 € Call of Duty 4 (5on5): 2.700 € Trackmania (Team mode): 1.200 € FIFA (1on1): 500 €
As always the prize money for the ESL Major Series games is sponsored by the Electronic Sports League and some are Sponsored games. Changes in the game's line-upAs mentioned briefly before, we concluded that we had to let go of one game this season and that is Quakelive. Due to low activity we chose not to opt for any other game at this point in time. If you don't see your favourite game in the list, then do what you can to make it more active on the ESL and it could be included next season. Hey EraMyy, do you think league like ESL can live without money? All the hosting, ESL Wire, prizes - every single euro is important! Crossfire and WoT won't be removed, regardless how much comments you will write. EMS has to be balanced - you can't say "remove fifa or trackmania". They are different games, non-shooters, EMS isn't a FPS-only series. I think there is only 1 place for Call of Duty game.
I really like MW3, so instead of going like this, please do as much as you can to get MW3 into next season. It's really possible and I hope it will happen.

Why would the publisher/developer of Crossfire or World of Tanks put their money for promoting their game onto MW3? That makes absolutely no sense.

So you really think mw3 is not active ? check with your admin rights, visitors for mw3, for wot, fifa ...

Esl can't add 1500 euros for mw3 ? with all our premiums money, your sponsors... ? So we paid our fucking premiums just for those noob games ?

Sorry but I can't understand the ESL. MW3 has to be in. MW3 makes the esl competitive but the esl give a nice title no chance to get "famer" and "stronger". The old boring titles will push every seasion again. Maybe the esl didnt know it but now they have to know it after that replies !

You know whats funny on this posting we explained now often it wont be added in this season, and it seems it was not clear enough. But i can explain it again, an EMS game will not be only chosen based on Versus acitvity there is way more behind it, of course is activity one part of it but not all. Beside this we will be only one Call of Duty part in the EMS, like mentioned, so you have to make the decision.
Is Modern Warfare 3 able to reaplce CoD 4, in activity, interest, streaming, online pr, stats, visits and many more facts. And the answer was simple no not at the moment. I hope this was clear enough now.

last time i checked tek-9's forums, it was full of posts on how to save the dieing cod4 community. Most of their activity is now offered by self-sponsored community LANS.
Your telling me that its easier for you to promote an old game with a dieing community instead of the most successful entertainment title of all times?
At the previous seasons your statement was absolutely right. CoD4 was 3 steps ahead of any other CoD title with more clans and more activity.
But a quick look at the ladder, cups and even outside-ESL competitions its obvious that this is CoD4's last year as a popular game.
Now, I do think this game still has a strong competitive side atm and should not be replaced with MW3, but there is no specific rule about having only 1 CoD title in the EMS, that is jsut your decision.
Do you disagree that supporting one of your most active games on the site is a smart decision?
Do you really believe that MW3 will have less pr, viewers and visits the CoD4?
