EMS VII: First Informations

 A few weeks back we proudly announced Day of Defeat: Source is part of the ESL Major Series for the fourth time in a row. In the Communitybattle between all games of the seventh ESL Major Series edition our Community proved itself worthy with reaching a more then respectable 4th place, topping games such as Warcraft 3, Team Fortress 2, Quake Live and many more.
With this rather small news we would like to thank the whole Community for their efforts in the past months, crown the deserved winner of the past ESL Major Series, the french side rockit, who were able to end the dominance of zeroPoint! in a shockingly exciting final and also give away the first informations about the qualification system for the next ESL Major Series! As in the previous season, the seventh ESL Major Series in Day of Defeat: Source will feature the 16 best teams throughout Europe fighting for their share of the 750€ prizemoney. While first Groupstage matches will be kicked off in early October, the Signup- and Qualificationphase will start in three weeks. Unlike in the last seasons where we had a rather complex qualification system with many different steps we decided to keep it simple and fair for everyone this time: To grab one of the 12 open Slots for the ESL Major Series Season VII you simply have to signup to at least one of the open qualifiers and reach a top 3 finish. The qualifiers are open to everyone with just one tiny exception: Teams who consist of more then 3 players of a team that dropped from Spring Season or ESL Major Series VI are not allowed to enter the qualification.

This teams are the Top 3 of the last Season, aswell as the winner of the ESL Spring Season. This teams are:  rockit in memory of 2 great years Warriors Troopers All4nothingTickrate PollAs we are currently completly reworking the Ruleset for Day of Defeat: Source, one of the most important possible changes is a change of the tickrate value used in ESL matches. Alongside our researches and private discussions we would also like to gather feedback from the community what tickrate they prefer. Before voting please read the tickrate section in the valve wiki here carefully and play some matches on different tickrates then usual. You can vote here More detailed information about the qualification system, the tournament structure aswell as possible rulechanges will be released closer to the start of the signups.
