Local Server Tutorial (Windows)

Author Posting
Hello,

since there are only very few CSP Servers available atthe moment we will allow players to host servers on their own PC. Toensure that no player gets an advantage by beeing the host, two mapswill be played per match. Obviously one map per server.

To besure that every team has the chance to host a server I am posting ashort tutorial to show you how you can set up the Server on your PC.After setting up your server, please test it with a friend or two tosee how good their ping is and how good the server performs.

You must have CS Promod already installed and running for this tutorial.

1. Step: Download the "Source dedicated Server" (screen)
Todownload the Source server files, go to the "Tools" tab in Steam. Find"Source dedicated Server" in the list and double click to start thewizard. Follow the instructions in Steam to finish the installation.

2. Step: Copy CSP Files to the Server (screen 1 / screen 2)
Goto your Steam directory, select "steamapps" and then "SourceMods". Onceyou are there, copy the whole "cspromod" folder. After that go back onefolder and select your Steam account. If there is no folder called"source dedicated server", start the Source server via steam once andexit again after it finished loading. Once you see the "sourcededicated server" folder, open it and paste the "cspromod" folder intothe directory.

3. Step: Install ESL Server config
Openthe "cspromod" folder, then open the "cfg" folder. Replacethe"server.cfg" file with the one you can downloadhere.

4. Step: Start the server (screen)
Nowgo back to Steam and start the Source dedicated Server again. Once theserver has started, be sure to select CS Promod as the game you wouldlike to host a server for. In addition you must enter an rcon passwordfor your server. You do not need to fill out the rest of the form (thePort is optional) because all the settings are set in the config fileyou downloaded in step 3. When you are done, press "Start server".

Yourserver is now started. Be sure to forward the port on your router. Youcan find out your external IP at http://www.ip-adress.com/ (forexample).

Feel free to post questions in this thread.

It's important that you do not give IP from your server, but IP that you use to connect to internet. You can find that on your router set-up page

Just write: "192.168.1.1" in your browser and check there what is your current IP adress

You have blocked ports.

Better way to setup server is to set ports to 27016+.

Make forward of ports on your router! *IMPORTANT*
