 Heads up 5on5 teams! You've always wanted to show your true skill on a big gaming event? Now is your chance! In Cooperation with SGI we offer you a very special Cup that takes place Wednesday the 05th of August 19:00 CEST. The two finalists of this cup will advance to a very exclusive tournament which will take place at gamescom 2012. On top of that there is a €1000 prize pot to be split.
** Update ** All details are now available, so we can announce them all at once. The tournament will be hosted on the 05th of August at 19:00 CEST. The teams must have only German players and all players need to be at least 18 years old due to legal reasons for the finals in China between the 29/11/12 and 02/12/12.
On 05th of August you have a one-time chance to qualify for a very special event which will take place at gamescom 2012. The two finalists of this cup do not only win their share of the €1000 prize pot but also advance to the WCG National Qualifiers final Germany which will take place at gamescom 2012. The final match will be played live at gamescom 2012 and decide which team wins the slot for the WCG grand final in China. The prizes
On top of the slot for the WCG National Qualifier final at gamescom, both teams secure themselves €500 prize money each. Travel expenses and accommodation for gamescom 2012 up to another €500 for each team will be payed!The final match, which will be the WCG National final at the same time, will be held at gamescom Thursday 16th of August. The winner will be granted a spot in the WCG grand final in China (28th of November 2012), to represent Germany and take a chance on the grand prize. On top of that all traveling costs, like flight and visa, as well as accomodation in China will be payed!

to sort out a few questions:
I'm pretty sure there will be qualifiers for other countries as well, but this is nothing we (ESL) have any influence on. This is purely a matter of WCG and for them to decide.
So it is 100% for 18 and above?
We are actually re-checking this. If anything changes we will update the news!

WCG used to be strictly developed for the Asian market,
so they have no damn rules about Germany
SGI,Gamerage,ESL,.. are all german
ofc. they want atleast 1 german team going to WCG.
There might come more international qualifiers for WCG,
but this will be all done by WCG itself. SGI and Gamerage have nothing to do with that.
But SGI,Gamerage,.. want to be sure to have atleast 1 german team in there,
so WCG gave them one slot and now they want to give it away to a German team,
so they can be sure there will be a german team in the WCG.
It would be a shame if there wouldn't be any German team in the WCG, while the game is made by Germans and the german community is the biggest one in this game.
But hey, this german team will even fail harder than the previous one who went to the WCG 2k11. (they won 0matches)
