Opening Cups: Final rules and information! ***UPDATE***
The first matchweek of both the Squadrush and Conquest Opening Cups is due to start today. While we've had loads of discussion about them, we'd like to present you the final rules for this Opening Cup and give you the last details.

Scheduling your matches

The matches should be played in the week they are scheduled in, this means that you have from the sunday it was scheduled until the next saturday to play this match. Arrange these matches in the matchcomments. If your opponent does not react or if there are any other problems, please open a protest.

The Rules

Based on the poll, where the vast majority of the voters want to experience the game in it's full glory, and experiences from the german admin team, who had already played a squadrush cup, we have decided on the following rules:

Global Rules

The global server settings:
» Friendly Fire: on
» PunkBuster: on
» Killcam: off
» 3D-spotting: off
» Hardcore: off

Forbidden weapons:
» M60
» Carl Gustav
» Mortar

Matchmedia
» Round-start screenshots
» Scoreboard screenshots of each round (not mandatory for squadrush, when server keeps crashing)

Conquest Specific

Each matchweek there will be one map. Each team will play both sides once and the outcome will be based on round wins or losses. Possible outcomes are: 1-1, 2-0 and 0-2.

Starting the round:
1. There are 2 squads with all players, only one guy of each squad is allowed to spawn
2. One of each write ready in the chat when they are ready
3. All 4 players (2 each team) take a screenshot on which you can see both parties "READY" on screen
4. All 4 players (2 each team) upload these screenshots to the matchmedia => radar proves two of each team are alive in their mainbase and the last 6 guys are dead

Squadrush Specific

Each matchweek there will be one map. Each team will play both sides 3 times and the outcome will be based on round wins or losses. Possible outcomes are: 3-3, 5-1 and 2-4, etc. All rounds must be played. This is important in case of multiple teams with the same amount of points at the end of the group phase. If a team leaves earlier on, the remaining team will get the remaining rounds. It is not allowed to blow up M-coms with C4, Grenade Launcher, Anti-tank mine, RPG or any other explosive (except for bombplanting obviously).

This was done to avoid medic spam. Teams have to find a good balance between kits now. This succesfully worked in the german squadrush cup aswell.
this was done to help noob go out with tube to get at least one kill...

so tubespam>medicspam

however now there are c4, rockets and other stuff allowed on SR so Good luck :X

Only one guy spawns, but can he move away from his spawn? I mean if this isnt written down, there will be people running a bit closer to their tank or whatever before writing ready. So is this kind of manover allowed or not?

There is no way to check this.. aslong as they're in the base it is ok.

Hmm, I guess these wont be compulsary in squadrush as the servers usually crash before the scoreboard comes up?

It's for my team: Valparaiso (first week), Port Valdez, Valparaiso again, Panama Canal - what happened to Atacama Desert?
I will stay only to show the guys that picked up these rules will cry the most after cup :D

yeah gl spam is more retarded than medic spam in 4v4. TBH fuck 4v4 squad rush and make it 5v5 inf conquest. Squad rush and rush are failed copies of ET and CS.
Why people start whining about GL? What´s different to BF2? GL was also allowed in BF2 conquest and inf matches and no one cryed constantly about it.
This time, ESL did a very intelligent choice.

Hard but important to guarantee a various and exciting competitive gameplay.
BTW, Germany started and lost 2 world wars. Dont ask them for solutions. Seriously, they must be out of their minds in this subject.

As i see it, we got 1 major problem. Medics.

Medics and paddlewar is the big problem we have and instead of balancing them you introduced another introduced class or weapon. If you duck behind cover, dont sit there more than 1 milisec or its gonna be blown to shit, its not hard to defend when the enemy has NO cover and you have unlimited GL grenades.

Now, creating a new problem hardly solves the first one in this subject. IMO postpone the tournament or do whatever you can to restrict medics. DICE wake up! Make this game Clanplayable.

Its doesnt matter what rules admins choose... there will be always whiners and crybabies.

4v4 squad rush are much smaller maps with one central objective.

Well basicly in 4v4 your WHOLE team needs to get on the same team,, when you are ready 1 guy in your team spawns and tells the other team that youre ready to start,, then you screenshot this and everyone else spawns.. Game starts.
