PC beta closed, map packs announced
| |||
![]() As most of you probably have noticed, the PC beta has been closed. It's now only a matter of days until the full game will be released around the globe. Northern America is set for a March 2 release date - this Tuesday - whereas the Europeans will have to wait one day longer to obtain their copies.
Weeks have passed in which you were able to test whether DICE came through on its "Revolutionizing Online Warfare" slogan. Reactions were positive overall. From next week onwards, you'll be able to get the real deal and bring about Destruction 2.0 across all maps.
Fueling the anticipation are videos and articles from diverse outlets. We've selected a couple of them with which you can fill your time otherwise spent waiting. First up is a collection of tips from Pixel Enemy, perhaps not well spent on the Battlefield veterans that usually hang around these pages. Still, it contains useful advice for new players and works as somewhat of a sequel to the tutorial we posted earlier. Then, a PC walkthrough trailer, voiced over by producer Anders Gyllenberg, was posted on the official Battlefield blog. It explains some of the PC specific features as well as a first look at the Rush map Valparaiso. Another blog post over at the same location revealed yesterday the existence of map packs. These can be unlocked by console players with VIP codes included in their game box. We're happy to inform you that PC players will get these maps - Nelson Bay (Rush), Laguna Alta (Conquest), Arica Harbor (Conquest), Laguna Presa (Rush) - for free as a game content update. A video showing off some of this new material can be viewed below. Also, it was brought to our attention that the Angry Joe Show has done the unthinkable and has made an attempt to kick up a notch the MW2 vs. BC2 debate. In this feature Angry Joe lists five reasons why Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be better than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Check it out here. ![]() Lastly, it is necessary to add a side note to all this anticipation and hype. Martin 'nKM' Bowman contributed an interesting insight to coverage site Cadred. In it, challenges for the competitive community are discussed, including mod tools and demo recording. Be sure to read it. As far as we are considered, we're totally committed to bring you a competitive platform (ladders, cups and more) as soon as technically possible.
