Space Cup & Meeting
As we announced, the space cup will hold as 5on5 assault cup soon. But we're really sad about the community meeting, which should take place last weekend.
You can get the full informations as always in the full news.

Official ESL Community Meeting

Yesterday on 6th february the ESL community meeting took place. Ok, not really. 3 admins waited for 1 hour in mumble, bot NO user joined the server. That's really really sad.

A lot of users flamed, because we never wanted to start a meeting. Now we started a meeting and no user joined. What's up? Do you just wanted to flame or why you didn't joined the meeting after flaming to get one?

Of course this is not the fault of the whole community, but it's a fault of these players that flamed to get this meeting. Next time you should think about it if you really want to get this what you are flaming for.

At the moment it's not clear if we will start another try with such a meeting. Even admins have a "real life", so we don't have time to wait 1 hour in mumble without any reason.

Space Cup - The Countdown begins!

The new space cup will be bigger, faster and more spectacular than any ESL space cup before. This time we won't let you take flags. This time the cup will be played in "assault" mode, so it's your mission to destroy the ship of your opponent. To make it more interesting we won't start it as a 3on3 cup like in the last 2 space cups. This cup will be played as 5on5, so that there are enough players for epic space battles.

This will be the biggest space battle in the ESL history. So don't miss the chance to join this legendary cup.

Feel free to write us proposals for the next space cups as comments in this news or in a support ticket.

General

The mappools for this cup will be added in the next days. So please be patient and feel free to make proposals in the news comments.

Yeah, that'll be fine.

*looking for 2 ground players* °_°
The reason as to why noone showed up for your little meeting is that you've made it very clear to everyone that you don't care what the community says. Are you really surprised now that people don't show up at your meeting after you treated them as "annoying players". Don't blame the community for your failed relations with them (and your failed meeting), it is you who have set the tone by ignoring us.
Then ofcourse using Mumble didn't help since swbf2 players use TeamSpeak or Ventrillo and most likely couldn't be bothered getting yet another system just to join a meeting where they aren't allowed to talk about what they want to talk about.
It's laughable to think that you would actually pretend to listen to the community when you've for so long posted things like this:

we don't care

This community meeting won't be an official ESL meeting, so we won't accept the decisions of this meeting. It's unimportant

Bigger than any esl space cup before?:D I remember the first 4on4 space cup had 32 participants. Is 8 bigger than 32?:O
The first had 16 as far as i know, and i guess its bigger cuz 5on5 > 4on4 °_°
@ Zeph:
This meeting was a try to get the opinion of the community. Because there was a lot of flaming we tried to make a meeting to get the opinion of the community to some topics.

First you flame us, but if we try to change anything, you ignore it. Isn't this behavior a little bit strange? It's just a question, nothing else. We tried to make the first step for a change but nobody was intered. That'S really sad...

P.s. You are quoting stuff that i have written to the "community meeting". This meeting (that was ignored completely) was an official ESL meeting. There is a great difference ;)

@ Lord_VSZM:
"bigger" -> bigger space battles -> 5on5 space + ground battles ;)
If you now suddenly and genuinely changed your mind and have decided it's better to actually listen to what the community wants, then you'd first have to prove it by posting something like: "We've realized we've done things to fast without discussing them with the community. It was a mistake to do things that people didn't want and from now on we plan to listen to the community. We've realized that the game and ESL is for the gamers and not the admins."
However this was not what you conveyed in your message about your meeting. Instead you said that you wanted to have a meeting, but only topics you liked would be discussed. That is not an attempt by you to "change" anything. I ask you, why would anyone be interested in that then?
So to answer your question on if it was "strange to ignore you then?" No, quite the opposite. It makes perfect sence to ignore someone who wants a meeting where you're not allowed to talk about the things that you want to talk about.

PS. I know I'm quoting you, thats why it says "Reen wrote"... And lol, official.. The community meeting was a meeting with alot of swbf2 players discussing things. Your ESL meeting was just 3 admins in a Mumble server. I think we both know which one of these was a real meeting, dispite you calling it "official" or not..

Okay, why we should have to prove it by posting something like this? Because it's your opinion? If we want to change something we can do it in our way without using "your rules".

We announced a meeting and we wrote, that some topics will be chosen by the admin team + some topics can be chosen by the community. Any topic was allowed excepting BO3 system.

So WE announced a VOICE MEETING. It should be clear that we won't start a voice meeting if we don't want to get your feedback. If we don't want to get your feedback we would just make a decision and just announce it via news.

Of course the "community meeting" was a real meeting. But it wasn't a real "ESL" meeting, because it wasn't organized by the ESL. Do you think you can start a meeting for any company (for example) and they will do what you decided on your meeting? They only will take a look at meetings that are organized by their own. It's just logical.

Zeph wrote:

We wrote that only topics we like will be discussed? Strange, i can't remember that. Lets take a look at the text in the last news:

"We will talk about different topics. Some topics we will announce during the meeting, other topics can be added from the community. (...)"

Hmmm, it seems you haven't read this news or you just don't want to understand what we are writing. We told you clearly, that the community can add topics too.

Lets just take a look at the quotation of the last news again:

"We will talk about different topics. Some topics we will announce during the meeting, other topics can be added from the community. (...)"

We never forbid you to talk about anything what you want to talk about. We just told you, that we won't discuss the BO3 system, because this topic was discussed enough (forum, xfire, support tickets and so on). Any other topic was allowed.

No, not because its my opinion but because your previous actions make it very hard to believe you and so some sort of genuine post from you, if you in fact actually were genuine about it, would help to gain the communities trust in your sincerity again. But I guess thats not the case.

ESL exists because there are players using it, not the other way around. So yes, the "company" would normally listen to what their clients want or else they wouldn't exist. ESL is nothing without its members, have you missed that?

You might want to take a closer look at what you wrote since you don't seem to remember. Here, I'll help you:
ReeN wrote:

and:
ReeN wrote:
If someone should start flaming of other annoying stuff, he will be kicked.

See, the BO3 system is an example of a topic that you don't like and therefor don't want to discuss. Same goes for "annoying stuff" that, knowing you, could mean anything (like topics you don't like).

ROFL!! You're contradicting yourself in that statement. Maybe you have trouble seeing it (how you don't see it is beyond me but oh well), so I'll help you:
"We never forbid you to talk about anything" <----> "we won't discuss the BO3 system"
See, thats you forbidding a topic and contradicting yourself at the same time.

And yes you need a shorthandel like "NEA", because if you don't have it, we can't see you on the cup grid.

thx a lot
xD....the activity goes down 16 teams in 5on5 Ladder rofl xD^^....now 7,48 matches per day before the restart of the ladders and the bo3 it was over 10 matches per day for a long time..^^
Yeah, would be nice to have more than 2 teams in the cup :(
In my opinion,
the relationship with each other -> which refers between the admins and the community

will never be fixed again, not to be rude against the new admins but there have been made a lot of mistakes by ESL-Admins. and now there are new admins -> the presure is big, cuz we're dissappointed in the ESL.

which gets you into a hard and rough place in the community.

A reason why the most people dislike these 'talking' (meetings), is that we aren't allowed to give our real opinion. which we never could and even now we can't give our opinion->as you can read by zeph's comments.

I know you admins don't want it, but I prefer to take a vote to get the old system back(tickets system).
I would also suggest to get some maps back for the mappool(in 5on5 ladder).

PS. We shouldn't have this discussion in this 'news'
this is about the 5on5 Space cup, and I hope there will sign in more teams,
Cuz it is a nice idea to get cups into SWBF 2, thatswhy I also appreciate your effort for us

admins are good and are just trying to do their best ;)

How can the people who give there opinions be kiddies?
If everyone was like you and laped up everything that was said to them without expressing there views then this would be worse off then it already is.
I still miss FR in the cup :(
You can still have fun beating all the rest ;)
I've gotta mention this :D
NYC???taking its time ennit?
Bah, all the rest = URS ^^
