Interview with Ben Stone van Kester

How did you guys prepare for the Grand Final of the EMS VII
We had plans about preparing and setting a real good strategy up. However, we have had so little time these last days around Christmas and our new year’s celebrations that it did not really happen. So we went in with what we did prepare, not very much. Our tunnel game is very strong and we know it, but our Sandstorm was worrying. We were worried, but we got things together in the end.

Did you expect it to be such an easy win? Where did discodance lack according to Knights?
They clearly lacked in moving together. Their shots were good; their basic tactics were good on Sandstorm, but not very good on tunnel. We were very happy to be able to finish it in two maps, but we certainly did not expect such an easy win.

Would it have been different when PuN played for them?
On tunnel it might have changed some rounds but not the final result. On sandstorm however it was very visible they lacked coordination, something that PuN may have brought to the game. So yes it would have been different. Speculating on an outcome however is not something I do. Any match is a given number of players and changing one player for the other changes a lot of things, we know it would have been a different match, but there is no way of telling what the result would have been.

This was my last “real” AA match, so it’s also my formal goodbye. I’d like to specifically thank Nemii, Bart and Grza for putting up with me and for being the team that we are. A team I’m proud of and happy to be in. Thanks to all the other Knights. Onyx for always helping with the general pc problems, for keeping our forum, Ventrilo and TS3 online for as long as we need it and for being my pc saver whenever I call on him. Munky for being a prick in general, Billy for offering to play the finals and discodance for playing against us.

Thanks to everyone making this possible. All the players of AA, and especially all the people behind the scenes. v1zZion as an admin who helps to keep this all alive, as good as he can.

Last shoutout is a side note. First round on Sandstorm, pay special attention to Nemi. He plays it out perfectly, sneaking south while I’m pushed by 3 to take south, but decides to stand up with his gun on single. O jea and he says he aced but whos going to believe that tsktsk…
