ESL ENC Finals Cologne
The ESL European Nations Championship, one of the Greatest International Tournaments for National Teams, after the football European Championships in Portugal or the Olympics in Greece, will be on 4th and 5th of September 2004. Then Europe's best six National Teams of both Counter-Strike and WarCraft III will go for a grand total of 20.000 € prize money.
The ENC LAN Finals will be held at KOMED Conference Center in Cologne, Germany on 4th and 5th September 2004. This venue is located in the Mediapark, a very modern part of Cologne, and provides spacious and pleasant surroundings for its many users and visitors.

Just like in a traditional sport setting, the need for identification with one's national team is an additional requirement beside the team competition. That makes national concepts in e-Sports indispensable.
For that reason, the Electronic Sports League Europe has created the European Nations Championship, where the National Teams of 24 European countries compete to find their champion.

Only six teams will enter the ENC LAN finals. This will guarantee some very exciting offline matches for you to view on ESL TV, and will also show the world, the top European National Teams. While four of the six teams have already qualified for a ticket to the finals, yet two have to be found. These two teams will be determined during the ENC Group Stage Playoffs.

The ENC LAN Finals will be conduced in two groups of three, teams being drawn at random. After playing one vs. all in this group stage, the remaining four teams will enter the semi-final round, where the two 1st ranked teams of either group will face the two 2nd ranked teams of the other group. The losers of this match will play against each others to decide the 3rd and 4th places and the winners will participate in the grand finals, taking place at approx. 20:00 CET on Sunday.

The Teams:

Counter Strike:
  • Finland
  • The Netherlands
  • Greece
  • Austria
  • Germany
  • Sweden

WarCraft III:
  • France
  • Denmark
  • Sweden
  • Bulgaria
  • The Netherlands
  • Germany

The ESL wishes to invite all interested parties to be present at this great event and watch the matches live and direct on a big screen, meet the players and admins and have a good time overall. We hope as many of you will make the journey to Cologne to support your Nation! The exact address is:

KOMED Conference Center
Im Mediapark 6
50670 Köln, Germany

The doors will open from approx. 10:00 to 24:00 CET on Saturday and from 12:00 to 22:00 CET on Sunday, ending with the great award ceremony. There will be a huge spectator-area with an even bigger screen for all visitors and a tournament area for the players on overall more than 400 m².

Closer to the time of the event, a special page will be released which will present the Offline LAN Finals in a much clearer way and will provide coverage from the event itself including pictures, videos and a live news ticker!
