In the following you can find help and solutions to the most known Aequitas errors and problems.
General help and assistance
Information:

It is correct that Aequitas collects and saves information. What information is collected is listed in the Licence Agreement. The collecting of data is exclusively used to find Cheaters and their possible Fake Accounts. No data or information about your pattern of use is accessible to a third party. |
|
|
|
|
What Information is saved, is listed in the ESL Aequitas Licence Agreement. All collected data is sent encrypted and as Hash-value. Only a few authorized people have access to this information, primarily Turtle Entertainment GmbH staff. |
|
|
|
|
Naturally it is allowed to use Aequitas on more than one computer, but you should always install a new copy of Aequitas and not Copy&Paste it from another computer.
|
|
|
|
|
No, sadly Gathers are not supported by Aequitas. To use Aequitas you always have to enter a valid match link.
|
|
|
|
|
One method is that they are caught by a screenshot that Aequitas made during the match. Also Aequitas can detect current cheats and modifications on the player's system and inform us in different ways. First we collect the data, compare it and then ban some time after the match took place. That means you will NEVER know for sure if your hack is Aequitas proofed or not. Even if it is not recognized at the moment, it may be recognized in the near future.

|
You should never test cheatswith Aequitas. Anyone that starts Aequitas and has cheats or hacks running should expect to be caught. We do not differentiate between a test or a match. Whoever uses hacks while running Aequitas and will be punished according to the rules with 12 Penalty points and a 2 year barrage.

|
Screenshots and FPS:
|
| The JPEG compression is used to reduce the size of the screenshots. As a user you can choose if the screenshots should be converted as they are made made, or after the game.
After the game might sound more reasonable, but you should always keep in mind that the screenshots are then saved as BMP-Files. Depending on your resolution the files can be up to 5 megabytes large.
Example:
On my Computer I have the problem that every time that I write something to the harddisk, my framerate collapses. More data means more lag. On the other hand my CPU (2.5GHz) has no problems to convert the screenshots to the JPEG format during the game.
That is why I use ''Ingame JPEG Compression'' because my CPU has no problem with the CPU load, but my harddisk is happy for every Kilobyte that does not have to be written. As soon as I changed this option the lag stopped.
Another method would be to reduce your Resolution because then less information has to be saved/compressed to the harddrive. This way the overall size of your ZIP-Files is also reduced. |

|
The exact frequency which Aequitas takes screenshots is absolutely random within certain parameters. Because of this it can happen that a player has twice as many screenshots as another.
Another reason can be the Windows Vista operating system. Under Vista fewer screenshots are taken than for example under Windows XP. One way to solve the problem is to turn off ''Anti-Aliasing''. Afterwards you should have normal screenshots again. |

This is a known problem with the operating system Windows Vista. Punkbuster for example has the same problem.
So that the screenshots are correctly displayed again, you must turn off the Graphics-Option ''Anti Aliasing''. |

|
System and System-performance
|
|
Aequitas is sadly not compatible with Win9x/Me. |
|
|
|
|
Set different CPU affinities.
Start Aequitas and the game, then tab out to the desktop and launch the task manager.
Process listing -> "aequitas.exe" -> "CPU Affinity" -> Check only the last CPU
Process listing -> game process (i.e. "hl.exe") -> "CPU Affinity" -> Check all other CPUs not being used by Aequitas
Background: For some reason Windows doesn't properly manage to get the logical CPUs to avoid both processes crossing paths.
Another solution:
Keep the game folders clean:
All files inside your game directory are being checked, some more and some less accurate. The less files Aequitas has to check the less ressources it needs.
A worst case would look like this: A rarely defragmented harddrive in addition to an anti-virus checking every single files once its being used and thousands of old demos lying around.
This all can lead to many files being checked using a lot of ressources.
And one more:
You should never have the Aequitas folder or your game folder open in the Windows Explorer while a game is running brcause these folder are ''in use'' and Windows uses many resources to refresh the folder view.

|
The option ''low priority'' is not supported by Aequitas. It is prohibited on purpose to ensure full functionality.
|
|
|
Upload und FTP-Server:
|
|
A while back there was a possibility to upload match media via FTP. This option has been disabled and is replaced by the more reliable http upload.
|
|
|
|
|
The file upload always was liable to bugs. It has now been removed to avoid problems. Aequitas files should be uploaded to the match page as ZIP files.
|
|
|
|
|
We are currently working on a possibility to make uploads of all match media including Aequitas files more comfortable.
|
|
|
Aequitas together with ESL Wire:
|
|
With integration of Aequitas in ESL Wire the handling has been eased up. Wire is able to detect related matches and automatically launches Aequitas and also can upload match media (planned).
Almost all user wish Aequitas to be enhanced. The integration will also mean the Aequitas team can spend more time on the Anti-Cheat component rather than the client itself.

|
|
As usual in a Beta period problems can occur with its several functions. We try to exclude them from the game processes, but you should always make sure Aequitas is running properly.
|
|
|
Error messages and codes
Router and Ports:
|
|
Sometimes an error appears after the "loading" screen of Aequitas when using Speedtouch routers. This can be fixed by disbling the browser watch setting in your router configuration. For older routers (i.e. 516i) you may also need to disable the settings "parent control", "remote control" and "dynamic dns".

|
|
|
|
As Aequitas must be granted access to use the TCP port 80 the usage of a proxy is not possible.
|
|
|
Error Meldungen:
|
|
This error can occur in the following situations:
* Active session / cookies
** the user has to visit the ESL website shortly before, otherwise Aequitas can’t establish a connection to the ESL after a session has timed out. This error also occurs when the ESL website is offline at the time Aequitas has been started.
* Firewall not configured
** the port 80 has to be unlocked
* Anti-Virus programs
** many Anti-Virus programs can block Aequitas from establishing a connection to the ESL. This can be solved by allowing ''HTTP Traffic'' (or port 80)
If this error can’t be fixed the match needs to be postponed. It is not a free opportunity to delete a match! |

|
|
You have 2 options to fix this error.
In order to start Aequitas you must be logged on your computer as Administrator. After logging in you should be able to start Aequitas.
Another option is to just start Aequitas with Administrator permissions. Using the Operating System “Vista” you can enable this by default:
- Right click aequitas.exe
- Properties
- Compatibility
- Access Level: run Program as an Administrator
- Confirm with "OK"
The error should now be fixed.

|
|
This error occurs after changing language and/or region settings. To fix it you can do the same backwards:
(Windows) Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced
Set the option for "Language for non-unicode programs" to your system default language or any language you had before.
|
|
|
|
| This problem is caused by Kaspersky Antivirus. You do NOT need to disable your AV-software in order to run Aequitas properly. The error can be fixed using the following way: Open your Kaspersky settings and look for the menu "Guard", then in the menu "Web anti-virus" -> "System integration" you need to uncheck the option "check HTTP traffic".

|
This is caused by using the "Do NOT save" option when entering your Aequitas password at first startup.
To fix, delete your Aequitas.ini and start up Aequitas again, you will have to re-enter your Aequitas password |
|
|
|
|
This error usually happens in Windows Vista when running 'check file', it is caused by not having the MS VB5 Runtime DLL installed
To fix, download msvbm50.dll and put it in your Windowssystem32 folder. |

If this error occurs you need to delete Aequitas and un-zip it again.
Alternatively you can download the file directly and put it into your Aequitas folder.
|
|
|
Anti-Virus-Tools:
|
|
Of course Aequitas is no dangerous malware program. Turtle Entertainment publishes in the Terms of Use what AEQ is reading and what it sends.
Usually the publisher of the Anti-Virus software releases an update after getting sent the files in question and Aequitas will no longer be considered dangerous.
In order to play an ESL match properly you simply need to add the content of the Aequitas folder to the exception rules.

|
|
Bitdefender can cause quite a few problems, even some mentioned above. According to the feedback of some users the following settings help:
*Privacy Control on Tolerant
*disable Parental Control entirely!
*If it still does not work you need to disable the “Real time” check! |

|
|
Follow these steps in order to get Aequitas working with Kaspersky 7.0:
1. Open Kaspersky (Double click the Symbol next to the PC clock)
2. Click "Settings" (on the bottom left)
3. Then in "Settings" choose the option "Threats & Exceptions" and Trusted Zone...
4. On top choose "Trusted Programs"
5. In this option choose “Add”... and then “Browse”
6. Now look for the aequitas.exe in its folder
7. Now check all 4 √ boxes in Parameters:
Do not check file to be opened [√]
Do not check program activity [√]
Do not check registry access [√]
Do not check network traffic [√]
8. Now confirm your settings with OK,OK, Apply Confirm Settings.

|
If you are using "AVG", please follow these steps:
- start AVG normally
- Select the menu "Resident Shield"
- Click "Manage Exceptions" at the bottom left
- A new window pops up: click Add Path
- Now browse to the path, where Aequitas is stored.
- Click apply
Now Aequitas should work again.
