As of today ESL Benelux has opened it's new section: Poker! We'll start with a ladder right away and to get the hang of it we'll start by organizing a Opening Cup next Wednesday! So if you would like to show of your poker skills, make sure you get a seat at a table on this cup.

You can get the client for free on PokerTH.net and get familiar with it. It’s a very simple and yet very well done piece of software that has everything needed and no more no less. The feature for hosting your own games on a free server and customize them as well as keep them password protected, did convince us the most that this is the ideal client to introduce to you.

Opening Cup

So the cup will start on Dec. 17 2008 at 19:00 o’clock central European time and signups are already open. The cup will be limited to 32 players but don’t worry, if we receive far more signups than that, we will increase that number as needed.

Rules are quite simple. The player to the left of the match generated will host the game, unless both players agree otherwise. When setting up a game you have to use the following settings:

Max players: 2
Startmoney: 5.000$
Change Blinds settings to: 1st small blind 10$ & raise blinds every 10th rounds
Time to act: 20 seconds
Password: As you wish
Nickname: ESL nicknames are mandatory

Of course you need to post the name of your game and the password to it on the match details.

Prizes:

1st Place - 3 months ESL Premium
2nd Place - 2 Months ESL Premium
3rd Place - 1 Month ESL Premium

So we would recommend that you download and install the client so you can get familiar with it until the cup starts, to keep eventual problems as limited as possible.
