When a player decides to change team, he is barred for 10 days. During this time, he cannot participate at any matchs. This rule is to avoid people to change team too often and to take advantage with that kind of action ("clanhopping"). When a registered player joins a team, this action is considered as a team change, so he is "barred 10 days". If a barred gamer (ONLY after a FIRST inscription) plays a match, no penalty points will be given. By the way, if he comes from one another team (change team and barred), and still participate in a match, he will suffer penalty points, as usual. |

Premium Users can be notified of a new challenge via ICQ. In this case, the following must be considered: 1) Your ICQ must be configured correctly. The following points under "Security and Privacy Permissions" / "Messages" must be deactivated: - "Accept messages only from Users on my Contact List" - " Do not accept World Wide Pager Messages" These two options must not be active! 2) Notification via ICQ is not 100% reliable. It is always possible that messages are "swallowed" by ICQ. However, about 98% of all messages arrive safely. But even with ICQ, the most important and reliable means of notification is still the e-mail. |

Each league and every tournament has an info-page, that contains the most important information. This includes: Leaguetype Ladder: A never-ending ranking list, that can be entered at any time. It can also be left again at any time. The matches are not pre-determined, the participants choose their opponents themselves and challenge them to a match. Premiership: There exists a fixed amount of teams with a fixed repertoire. Each participant plays the other according to a fixed and previously generated repertoire. This system forms a season with a beginning and an end. Cup: A classic tournament with a tree structure. The start-off fixtures are determined (randomly or per settlement / seeding), all the following games result from the first games' outcomes. A differentiation is made between "single elimination" and "double elimination". In "single elimination" a player or team drops out of the tournament after one lost game, in "double elimination" the player or team drops out of the tournament after two lost games. Teamsize In team leagues, teams often have to have a minimum number of members before they can register as a team. The same may count for the maximum amount of players, as e.g. with 2on2 teams that are allowed to consist of two players only. Match moving Is a match allowed to be adjourned / moved? And if so, where to? The first time data states how long before the originally fixed date and time a match is allowed to take place, the second states how long after the originally fixed date and time. Example: 2 days « » 1 day, if the challenge is fixed for the 20.03., the match may only take place between the 18.03. and the 21.03. In ladders, the match is usually allowed to take place two weeks before and four weeks after the original challenging date. Cancellation of a match Is a match allowed to be cancelled / deleted? In ladders, this is usually allowed, in premierships and cups this is usually not allowed. Close challenges When a challenged opponent does not react to a challenge, the challenge is deleted after the amount of time shown. If the challenge is an coercive, penalty points are, of course, given. Auto confirm Every result must be confirmed by both teams. If one participant does not confirm, the match is automatically closed. The auto confirm field tells you, when this happens. Auto-Away / -Kick In order to avoid nominal members, inactive members are removed / kicked from the ladder after a certain amount of time. Before this happens, they are marked as "away" in order to show that this player has not taken part in a match for X days. Protest period If a match is closed, both participants have the given time in which they may file a complaint. Auto-Challenger All dates available for the auto-challenger. Further information on the auto-challenger is to be found in a separate FAQ text at How does the auto-challenger work? Ascendants Each week a team or player has the opportunity of ascending from a ladder to the according ESL Amateur Series, if one exists. Every Thursday at 8:00 a.m. the No.1 of the ladder gets the opportunity of activating the Premium Account for free for a period of three months. He then has the possibility of entering the EAS. (Further information on EAS). |

Barrages endure whole days! They are independent of times and expire during the night. A player is unlocked at the next day if the barrage is not apparent neither on the Team- nor on the Playersheet, means if the red warning box at the top of the playersheet is gone. Example: Player X gets 4 Penality Points which expire on 8th December. During the night from 8th to 9th December the barrage is still displayed. Consequence: The player is still barred till the barrage is deleted during the Downtime in the early morning (after it is killed out of the cache) The Teamjoinbarrage expires exactly after 10 days (have a look here!) |

Playercards

|
What is the ESL Playercard You can find information and an introduction to the ESL Playercard are under /eu/playercard/info/. When does the registration start? The exact date will be announced in the news. 5 euro are too much!? No, it is not. This covers the straight costs, which arise to us. We want to improve the quality of the ESL with the ESL Playercard, it should not be a source of income. Do I have to pay again in two years? Yes. Are my personal data visible for everyone? No, further on the data are indicated, which you marked as such. And the data will not pass on to a third party. How do I pay? Via telephone, by credit card or bank credit transfer. Which data have to be indicated with the Registration? Name, first name, nick name, photo, address (road, postal code, city) and date of birth. Is an a p.o. box ok? No, only normal postal addresses. What is about other countries? The ESL Playercard is only available in Europe. Will it give special Trusted Only Cups or leagues? Yes, because of the Playercard competitions it is possible to make "above 21" or regional Cups. Can Game Admins see the personal data? No, only the check and treatment coworkers of Turtle Entertainment have full view of the personal data. There will certainly still be Faker and Cheater! There is no 100% safe system. But with introduction of the ESL Playercard the restraining threshold increases and it is more dangerous for Faker also substantially more with difficulty, more complex and extensive than with a pure online Registration via email. At least during the input of identity card number or identity card copy it should be conscious everyone that abuse can be criminally pursued. What happens if I move or my personal data changes? An address change can by the one hand be made together with the order of a new Playercard, with which the handling charge becomes due. However such a change is not compellingly necessary and can be accomplished also only at expiration of the normal 2 yearly period. By the other hand it can be done via Support. Please add a copy of your Passport with the changed data on it. Can I change my nick as "Trusted Player"? Yes. Can I change my photo as "Trusted Player"? Yes. Are there certain criteria for the photo? Yes, similarly as with an identity card photo the picture must show your whole face from the front without further persons or items (no sun glasses, beverages e.g.). The picture may not be older than 6 months. Is the Playercard only for players starting from 16 years? No, the Playercard is also for players under 16 years at the disposal. With the reaching age 16 can later be added the identity card number for a higher Trustlevel. Why is the Playercard only 2 years valid? Almost every other document of identification or card is limited, our period is set to two years. Two years are a very long time in online gaming, in which very much can happen. Therefore a player must again verify himself after two years. How does the Playercard look like? The ESL Playercard is similar to a EC card in size and condition. Beside name, city and ESL ID is also a player photo on the card. On the back is a bar code, with which e.g. the enterence can be automated on iFNG or other Event. Which Trusted level exist? Trust level 1: Normal Registration, validating via post office way Trust level 2: Additional indication of the identity card number (only check, no storage) Trust level 3: Send an Identity card copy Trust level 4 - (planned): Still our secret. : -) What do I have as "Trusted Player"? Primarily the entrance to special competitions and a marking as „a trustworthy player“ in the Playersheet. Beyond that one will have the options that one can be e.g. only challenged by Trusted Players or one can search only for Trusted Player in the ESL Instant Challenger. Will it give also teams to Trusted? Yes, if all (!) Members of the team are "Trusted Player", the whole team is set "Trusted team". How long does the Registration take? The Registration takes only a few minutes. By the expected rush it will come to waiting periods. We try to keep these naturally as small as possible, but a check of the data is important for us. |

| Go to the command center and click on the link "My protests". Here you will find the status of all your Protests and can directly answer them. |
| |
|
Within each league on the website you will find a menu-item called Help & support in the sub-menu placed on top of the page, to the right. If you have any questions regarding a specific match (Clanwar), you will find a link to the "Protestform" on the according match-detail page. |
| |
|
A protest is an official protest against a match. Frequent reasons for an official protest are cheating or unfair treatment by the opponent. This type of support is treated differently from normal support questions. Protests have a higher priority and guarantee a high quality of match results within the league. |
Command Center
| |
| This item allows you to enter the match times you would prefer playing (Clanwars) at. If e.g. someone challenges you, he will find a list of the times you entered and is then able to choose a time convenient to him from this list. Your listed match times are, however, not binding for the opponent! |

The Database Interface can be activated at the Command Center. Once activated, you can view the URL at with you can receive information on the player- or team-accounts. The data is either available in XML format or as PHP variables. The infos on all the matches is only available in XML format. The data is only updated every 60 minutes, please do not recall the data more than once every hour (if possible only per cron job). Example scripts: PHP script for the selection of PHP variables (without XML), the display would look something like this: An extensive example script on analysing XML information will follow soon. |

If you have forgotten your password and you can't access your email account any more, there is no possibility of ever accessing that account again. If this happens, the admins can't and won't change your email address for you! The reason for this is that it is impossible for an admin to determine whether the person making the request is really the owner of the account. Otherwise it would be easy to "steal" someone elses account: - "The address xy@blabla.com doesn't exist any more. Could you please change it to badboy@thief.com?" So please see to it that your email account is always up-to-date! You can change your email address yourself at the Command Center at any time. |

The Play Mode

| There are two ways to qualify for the Balkan League Main Round: Countries with an active ESL Pro Series can determine their participants via the ranking of the latest finished season. Countries without an active ESL Pro Series will hold so called "National Qualifiers". After the National Qualifiers the winning teams will be placed directly in Balkan League Main Round. Four countries will participate in Season I - Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania. |
| |
| For the first season each country will have 4 slots per game. From next season there will be Country ranking based on the performance from previous seasons. The formula will be the same as it`s in ENC and Extreme Masters. |
| |
| 16 participants advance in the Balkan League main round from EPS or qualifications. These participants are placed into 4 groups with 4 participants each. The participants that finish the main round first in their group are directly qualified for the Playoffs. The participants that place second and third within their groups are qualified for the relegation. The relegation consists of 8 participants. A participant that placed second in a group will face a participant that placed third in another group. The four winners are then placed in the Playoffs. The playoffs are bo3 single elimination. |
The Matches
| |
|
If your opponent doesn't show up in the time agreed on, you can submit this on the match result form. There is a link for "opponent didn't show up" which you use. If your opponent does not agree on that result you have to use the protest form to include an admin in that problem. |
| |
|
If you have agreed on a new time for the match with your opponent you have to change this on the ESL webpage. The system automatically closes a match which not has been a result entered for within 24 hours after the date and time of the match. So if you want to postpone a match you go to the match detail page where you normally enter the result. There you find a button for "postponing" the match. The match will be set to "challenge" again and your opponent has to agree on the new time. |
| |
|
You have to open a protest. Please submit as many details as possible in the protest (Screens, Logs, Demos etc...). If a match has not been played to the end there will be no points for this. Though there are exceptions where this is possible anyway. More details on that can be found in the according rules to the league. In any case the player who left the game before end will be punished with penalty points. |
| |
|
Prescribed procedure when filing a protest: - The protest can only be filed using the protest form on the ESL page. Protests filed by email or IRC are not valid. At most, they can help explain the circumstances. - The protest must contain exact information on the reason for the protest, e.g. "They cheated" would not be a sufficient explanation. Also, the protest should be comprehensible and carefully worded in good English. It is not reasonable for the according admin to have to read sentences without case sensitivity, punctuation marks etc. It can be expected of each user to comply with the English spelling. - Insults in any form, no matter how "harmless" they may be, are strictly forbidden in the script and can result in penalty points or even in the deletion of the protest. - Protests filed because of suspected cheats must be filed in the following way: Exact naming of the suspected type of cheat (name and description). Writing something like “He played so well, he must be cheating somehow” is not sufficient. It is necessary to name exactly which player (name/SteamID etc.) is supposed to have cheated at which point of time in the match, if the type of game allows it (e.g. CS, Q3, etc.) All accused players must make their demos available unasked, if the game in question supports demos. Should the demos not be available within 48 hours after the processing of the protest has begun, the case is handled as if no demo exists. The protest is then decided in favour of the player or team that filed the protest and assessed and closed without further questions asked. - Protests concerning ringers must be well-founded and be proven with evidence (IP logs, SteamID screens etc.) Suspicions alone are not enough and will lead to a declination of the protest. As a rule, protests of this kind are only permitted if the game was not played to the end (game-specific exceptions are possible). See also: “Protests due to wrong SteamIDs”. - Protests due to wrong SteamIDs/pb_guid etc. must be proven by means of a screenshot or similar, which must be added to the protest unasked. Before the game, a screenshot must be made of the console. The screenshot must show all the players with their SteamIDs/pb_guid etc. Screenshots made with other programmes such as HLSW are not valid. Should players have to reconnect during a game, a further screenshot would be sensible. After the match, the players should compare the SteamIDs/pb_guid with the ones on the team sheet. - Protests because of wrong server settings, if compulsory in the game, must be proven unasked with evidence such as screenshots, server logs, etc. These are however not admitted once the game has begun. Server settings must be checked before the game commences. Reclamations after a game has been played will not be processed. With starting a game, both participants automatically accept the server settings. Should the server settings be changed during a game, this must be proven with the according evidence. - Protests due to players or teams quitting a match must be proven using evidence such as screenshots and/or demos. Should these not be available when the protest is processed, the protest can be rejected without further reason. The result up until the time of the protest or even a “Default win” is not to be entered in the result form, it must be clearly stated in the protest. - Protests due to insults by the opponent are only then admitted, if the according proof is available in the form of screenshots and/or demos when the protest is processed. If this is not the case, the protest can be denied without further questioning. - Protests due to opponents not appearing to a match are not permitted. This must be entered in the result form. - If the opponent does not hand in screenshots, this is no reason for a protest. Only if a specific reason exists for demanding a screenshot (e.g. suspected cheating) can a protest be filed. Otherwise the protest will, as a rule, be denied. - Players/Clans that often file unfounded protests may receive penalty points, as this unnecessarily takes up the admins’ time. - Further addendums / changes of these binding guidelines are possible at any time and are announced in the news. |
